Just out of interest, do you (or any other smokers) go to away games, if so is any provision made where a fan can have a beer and cig? or is it one or the other?
Is there any chance - when I attend away games - of going to the bog at half time without increasing my likelihood of contracting lung cancer 10 fold.
Just leave the fags until you’re outside the ground - sick to death of myself & my grandson running the gauntlet of smokers & feeling our way though the cigarette smoke just to have a pee.
Rant over.
As you were.
PS Chances of new ground development taking smokers into consideration? Zero - and that’s how it must be.
I can't personally do fags in bogs, I don't do intervening in other peoples air space, I mean the combination of urine, cheap disinfectants, and cig smoke
as I said, I see myself as scum and not the sort of glossy, shiny, smiley happy family, dress suit type customer or whatever, I guess I am scum with a bit of taste and huge respect for others choices
what I do know is, that if they put a balcony or something somewhere, tucked away behind a stand or on top of it with fresh air and whatever view can be mustered, the scummy fan like me will turn up early, spend far more than the shiny fans on beer, food, merchandise and contribute to the atmosphere and help NFFC make huge profits, and happily stay for a pint afterwards, in fact i'd pay a bit extra to be served by pretty people, have nice food to choose from and be out of the way of kids and fuddy duddies, flask and the righteous and judgemental who drive off stuffing the air with more fumes in 30 minutes than I can shove into the air in 6 weeks
as it is the high street, the pubs are all collapsing because of neglecting the scum, maybe scum with taste, scum who like to have a choice, scum who do not want to intrude on others, if there is no place for me at the city ground other than the bogs i'll pass thanks
In this day and age, when people breath in harmful fumes from cars its total nonsense to implement smoking bans. You die if you smoke and you die if you don't smoke....not smoking is not some cure for death. That's the stupidity of it all.
A proper smoking area - restricted to over 18's - with a one way system - so the entrance is not the exit and you flow people through the area - well thought out - with refreshments near - where people can purchase and take into the smoking area to consume - would be a welcome addition and prove fruitful in generating more income. It would not in any way adversely effect any non-smokers - if they are happy to breath in air full of PM2.5 pollution from industry and cars, then stop moaning.
The chemicals in vaping are 50 times more cariogenic than tobacco - and yet this is being promoted ??? https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323036.php
I am afraid all this anti smoking is not about health anymore - its about punishing tobacco companies - when people are being enticed into highly dangerous vaping as oppose to less dangerous tobacco then you know things have gone too far and its now punitive.
If it were about heath then sugar, salt, alcohol and tobacco would all have the same restrictions - that they do not clearly shows its not health related. So lets make the City Ground a stadium that is forward thinking, one which welcomes all people and caters for all.

Totally agree JWJW, I have never smoked but appreciate that for some a pint and a cigarette are part of a match day experience, as long as it doesn’t infringe on others I think the stadium should have a pleasant smokers area with refreshments.
Peoples rights are being eroded day by day, would be great of the club to say ‘ all welcome and catered for’ THAT would be forward thinking IMO.

The new plans sound great, I’d be interested to know whether they’ve kept back further room for expansion. If I was doing this, if hypothetically possible, I’d be doing this work with a view for another 10,000 seats somewhere if at all possible. I think the new capacity is right in the short term, just would be good to have the option.
Looking at comparative capacities, Chelsea Everton Leicester etc all constantly bemoaning their need for increased capacity. Wouldn’t want us to reach this situation say in 10 years and be stuck in the same boat. Maybe safe standing will help in that regard.
Also, I’m keen for further updates on how they will sort the issue with current season ticket holders in that stand as I am one and am relatively new so first on the chopping block! Overall though still great news and much needed, even if it just helps put us where we should be. Good statement from the owner that he is in for the long haul.
Just as an aside, I’m really sorry to hear about your illness NG3. I hope you can recover, health is way more important than whether carvalho should be starting or whether Worrall will make it at Forest. Good luck in your battle.

I do think Mancienne and Mills are bad for anyones health though
Win today and we all feel much better
Rooting for you NG3 .. Forest need you and we are all a bunch of thick clueless divwits without your wisdom my friend, you single handedly give this forum huge credibility

Will they be providing a vegetarian section so they don’t have to smell the burgers and hotdogs. Think I’d rather smell fags booze and burgers, rather than smelling some of the fans that don’t seem to wash week on week. Yes I am a smoker.

Firstly, may i wish you all the best for the future NG3, I am so sorry to hear you are so ill.
Secondly, I am absolutely over the moon to know that we are staying at our spiritual home forever more.
My views on the redevelopment.
1. To be able to build a stand that should mirror the BC stand in height is beyond my expecations. I clearly thought that the 'Right to Light' issue would seriously impede any notion of a stand as tall as that, and to consider the Bridgford End is looking likely to all be a completely double tiered stand is incredible.
2. I would love to see the away fans moved from the Lower Bridgford and the whole stand given back to Forest supporters. That stand gives off incredible accoustics and atmospherics and directs the sound of the singing fans forwards and not into space like the higher roofed stands tend to do. Why should we allow away fans the opportunity to be heard by opposing teams when it is we, that are at home and should have the full advantage of that fact.
3. Following on from my previous point, make all of the lower tier of the Bridgford end a safe standing area where we can sing and jig and bop and even do an Egyptian sand dance if the need requires lol.
4. I am sure i read somewhere the club are looking to move the boat clubs into new Olympic standard pavilions just a little further down river. This would further enhance the view as you walk across Trent Bridge to see the new Peter Taylor Stand in its majestic beauty
5. I would like to see the Lower Bridgford cornered onto the new stand but would like to keep the corner between the Taylor stand and the Trent End open. Just getting that glimpse into the ground as you cross the bridge always gives me a buzz.
It would be interesting to see what others views and opinions are regarding what they would like to see being done to the WFCG

Thank, although you just know I have to disagree with you.
My health isn't more important, mate, I'm just one man, a man the memory of whom will fade until he is forgotten & 'replaced'.
Twenty years from now someone like you will be the new me, trying to make sure everything & everyone is informed & moving in the right direction.
I am very expendable, but the club less so.
Save me & you save one man, save the club & you enrich tens of thousands.
The club is greater than the sum of it's parts, & I am just one small, insignificant part, in one era.
Thanks for the well wishes though, now go cheer our boys.
NG3, can we help, if anyone from NFFC has read or reads your posts and appreciates your incredible support and connection to the club and your circumstances, maybe Mr M himself or the players chipping in, or maybe just us on the forum, let us or someone on here know what we can do to help you.
I want to help, some of the players on £40k a week, Marinakis is worth quite a lot, my suggestion is to tell me or someone on here what needs fixing or help to cope or whatever.
Let us at least try to help buddy, look, I love Stuart Pearce, M o N, R K … but if you were all drowning in the Trent, we'd pull you out first buddy, anyway, you are actually quite an important person around here whether you like it or not.
Quite handy this thread is about infrastructure projects, I see my buddy as the No1 Infrastructure project, the other 2 not quite as important

The bit about away fans I can see causing some controversy but I hope it can be resolved. First off there is no possibility away fans can be located anywhere but the Bridgford stand as thats where the coaches park and they can be corralled there after the game if necessary (and thump on the police cordon walls to their hearts content like Monday night). There is no other space available to do that.
So how do we allow for more away fans yet keep them in the same end. I really hope we do not go back to the old way of letting them have the whole lower tier, it gave a massive advantage to the away team. The problem with the upper tier at the moment is that entry to VI and V2 is off Colwick road which leads to the same safety concerns.
What I would like to see is away fans given W and X1 as now plus U1 and U2 which I reckon would be around 3500? It would also resolve the problem of some of our less delightful fanbase spitting and throwing coins from above onto the away support which sadly does happen. It would mean reconfiguring the entry and exits but I think would be achievable. Forest fans would then keep the remainder of LB and behind the goal which is the important bit, and any extra seating from a rebuild of the upper Bridgford.
On the smoking issue, I suspect zero chance that will be accommodated. If you like a pint and a ciggy with a view, the boat club balconies are great, I love watching the fans cross Trent bridge and walking towards the ground from there. Just NFFC wont get your money, they will live.
Finally all the best NG3, its always great to read your insights.
