Nicholas Randall mentioned about one month ago that an annoucement was imminent regarding 2 infrastructure projects, rumoured to be the Academy and training facilities at Wilford and work to be carried out on updating the City Ground (probably new Peter Taylor Stand roof). It's all gone a bit quiet, anyone heard anything?

I heard about a new roof for the Main Stand last summer not long after the new owners took over. It's long overdue.

New roof will be a waste of money, the Main Stand need to be demolished and rebuilt ...maybe taking some of the car park (as this can be assimilated in a new design). By having a new roof no money will be made, by rebuilding the Main Stand in a two tier stand plus amenities inside it will make the place self financing. We can even move the shop there, and (I dont know if the present shop land is ours or not), replace the shop with a small hotel or some luxury flats.
If our aim is the Premiership, these investments must be done before we are there, cause if we make it there it will be hard to limit the ground capacity (at least for a whole season when works on the new stand are ongoing).

For me replacing the roof of the main stand is no more then when Fawaz bought the screens...

the main stand has been outdated for far too long. would be exciting to build a whole new stand but I wonder how the planning permission would go.

Should me more details out soon. They will probably have to move the changing rooms etc over to the brian Clough Stand, whether that would be permanent or not I don't know. It's going to be interesting, don't look as thhough it will only be a new roof...

When the existing stand was constructed after the fire, the foundations were designed for another level to be added if required; obviously that never materialised.

The later day problem has been objections from local residents; the scale of the redevelopment will hinge on how the club get round that issue.

Anything built in the 60's will in no way be adequate for todays requirements. And theres no way any engineer will want to rely on anything from that time to support a building as significant as this would be.

Re your 2nd point, producing a design that respects the amienity of the houses closeby is a challenge. A new main stand would likely be 3 times as high as the current structure.

Its a challenge. Trust me, I know about these things.
