I'm sure they would. You wouldn't built a stand costing hundreds of millions of pounds and leave that piece-of-shit structure in place. I'm amazed no one had the foresight to think about how the phasing would work when the original design was put together.
That first design by Benoy looked really basic on a number of levels to me. For example, the corner building proposed in the Trent end corner looked like it had been shoved in there as an afterthought. It related to neither the new stand nor the existing Trent end, nor the view from the bridge. It's floor plan made no sense. I'm amazed it didn't receive more scrutiny from the planners, it was poor. And the stand configuration was bog standard. It was as basic as it could be.
Let's hope this new stand has some architectural merit, and there's some decent master planning going on this time around.

Yes, that planning permission will go in the bin and there'll need to be a new application. If the proposed capacity goes up, there'll be more debate around parking, transport, etc. And if the stand's getting bigger, that could impact the houses on Rosebery Avenue.
A few principles of redevelopment have however now been established by the first permission and if the flats are dropped, all the debate around them won't need to happen again, so it's not entirely bad news.

I would also assume that the height of the new propsed PT stand will be in line with the height of the original plans which included the flats so dont see that being an issue as they received approval,

Oh come on! Ambitious new stand and looking to keep the existing one open while they rebuild, and people are finding an excuse to complain! The toilets will be great, there will be flowing water. The refreshments will be better, and we’re not getting relegated! It’s Friday as well! Happy weekend!!!

Slightly unrelated but went to Spurs to watch the NFL yesterday. What a magnificent stadium. Not seen the new Everton one yet but Spurs has to be the yardstick by which all others in the Premier League are judged. As iconic as our ground's location is it makes having a stadium anything like the Spurs one impossible.

I went to watch the Rugby final there the season before last.
The stadium is incredible, but the match day experience was ruined by the total lack of transport after the game.
Getting to the ground was bad enough - tube to Seven Sisters and then overground to White Hart Lane.
Getting back was a complete nightmare.
You could not get close to the Railway Station so we decided to walk back to Seven Sisters, which is a three mile hike; things were no better when we got there; we ended up getting a bus to Finsbury Park.
You would have thought that, after spending the guts of 1bn on a stadium, some thought would have gone into the transportation side of things

The transport links are terrible but the same can be said about most London venues.
The away match two years ago was exacerbated by the Police incident.
I tend to park at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre and walk to / from the Ground. It’s probably a little further than I’d prefer to walk post match but you can easily get out onto the M25 afterwards.

We must've got lucky. We walked back to Seven Sisters - took about half an hour plus a few minutes wait for crowd control to get into the station - and got straight on the tube back to St. Pancras.

June 2033. Nottingham Forest announce new plans to develop the Brian Clough Stand into a 30000 seat virtual reality platform. Plans for the Peter Taylor stand which was due to be developed in 2019 have again stalled and the club have declared they now plan to keep the existing 1960s structure and list it as building of historical significance with a special viewing gallery to admire the ancient toilet facilities.
