EM has backed the club with serious cash- amazing.

What's sad from our point of view is that even £160 million doesn't turn a long term Championship club into a mid table Premier league one. It's been that big a leap.

I really feel for him, another £50 million probably doesn't even do it - unless we'd lucked out with a CF who stays fit and bangs in 18-20 goals.

Ironically, those who have looked decent Henderson  Felipe  Boly  Yates  Jonno  Lodi  Aurier  Kouyate.  Plus MGW sometimes. Combined cost of first 8 (excluding Wages) less than £10 million. He must be pulling his hair out.

This is the thing for me always Zico. You can’t criticise EM for the amount he has spent or backing the manager. Its the way he does it and often the people he puts in charge of making the decisions.

We didn’t need 30 players or to spend £200m. It needed a vision and a long term plan and then to invest properly in the right people. Yes I know there will still be hits and misses but you bring in staff to make those decisions and get that percentage of hit vs miss higher. I thought we were going that way for a while but we seem to be back to knee jerk reactions, people sacked and a huge turnover of the squad.

Steve Cooper got us promoted not EM

Thankful for the money - but he got very lucky with Steve Cooper - we’re now back to throwing money around and hoping something works

Lets not be silly now.

They both got us promoted.

How could SC have done it without the tools that EM gave him?

Sensible answers for the sake of debate only please not one liners will no substance.

EM just given us our first season back in the premier League after 23 years. Despite currently being in the bottom three I pray that we can retain our PL status next season. I think he deserves it, he put his money where his mouth is and once again he delivered on a promise and invested 170M in the team just like he said he would when he stood in front of thousands of adoring fans in the old market square.

He has shown remarkable faith and patience in Steve Cooper and has backed him to the hilt just like he always backs all of his managers in the transfer market, he showed the same faith and patience in Lamouchi too.

No of course he is not perfect but then again who is? But his passion is second too none, his determination and fierce drive to be a winner and to be the best there is is admirable. This is why we see a lot of chopping and changing, failure will not be tolerated, if EM gives you a job then you have to deliver it's as simple as that.

Personally I wouldn't change him for anyone. I am loving this ride he is taking us on, it's a great journey and long may it continue.
Not everyone will agree with me of course but you should be careful what you wish for. Would you like us to go back to the Irving Scholar, Mark Arthur and Fawaz days?

We were one breath from death when EM came in, now we are currently in the PL and on a solid financial footing with EM converting tens of millions of debt into equity with no fuss and no publicity, he just gets it done nice and quietly.

I think it's been a great ride and it's certainly never boring that's for sure. Fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride that EM is taken us on, embrace it, there will be some ups and downs but we have never had it this good in the last 20 years, we shouldn't  lose sight of that.

No one will ever change EM, it's in his DNA to be a ruthless winner at all costs. Enjoy him for what he is, his heart is in the right place and he means well. He loves Nottingham Forest Football Club, we all do, he's one of us.

Nobody has forgotten that Sniffer. Cooper and EM in tandem could still be the dream ticket for the future. They have delivered the dream together which is why it makes sense to continue to do despite a few large bumps in the road.

A lot of the 250m has been poor recruitment by people he has employed at the club though. Due diligence at Forest needs to be better. We may become a sustainable club then rather than one that rips plans up every 6 months. What has Ross Wilson done that makes him attractable to us? Another to add to the sack list in a short while.

He is going to appoint Steven Gerrard first though.....

Great post Sniff, and I for one am truly  grateful for what he has done for Nffc.
I just hope he gets what he deserves, and that’s a club making good solid progress up the EPL.

I am a supporter of EM  but weirdly SC came in and took us flying up the league with the inherited from Hughton failed squad. He was supported in Jan-especially in retaining Jonno- but not excessively so was it? Loan of Davis. Freebie in Cook (who was huge in getting us up). £2 million for Sam  then a couple of "Data signings," of Danes from Canada and Paraguay. Not sure if I've missed anyone, but not a silly or exorbitant transfer window tbf.

I think most owners could have funded that, it was equally about not taking away the tools for promotion- Grabban getting injured I thought would derail us at the time, but Jonno (supported by Davis role) really stepped up.

Not taking away EM contribution-he obviously funded most of Coopers inherited squad for Kankjar/O'Neil/Sabri/Hughton. (Can't think of any Warburton left overs-Lolley maybe?).

No one can question his dedication but I just wish we had a stable structure underneath so we are not constantly trying different things in recruitment. I hope he can put that in place and keep the academy front and centre also.

I'm hoping the penny might've dropped regarding signing "big name players" solely for their name (ignoring how they fit into the team, whether they're still motivated to give 100%, how their body is holding up etc.) given his quotes which supposedly appear in Greek media today, because it definitely applies at Forest too, less of the Arters, Lingards, Woods and Shelveys in futute, more "players with speed and a thirst to play" please!
