I've probably been one of his biggest advocates over the years, but even I've been amazed at how easily he's not just stepped up to this level, but been the best player on the pitch so often.

Sitting with ManU fans at old Trafford as they talked about him looking like a blonde Declan Rice and they should sign him to back up Casimero shows how far he's come.

If we get relegated Yates is probably on his way. I can see a mid to lower prem club really wanting him. He's an absolute warrior. He's stepped up to the required level at every point in his career. We've not seen his ceiling yet.

I haven't always been a massive Yates fan. Always loved his energy, tackling, passion, getting into box, but worried about his ability on the ball. However, lately he has been awesome. His body position has changed and he is now ready to receive ball and not just pass it immediately. He is becoming a complete midfielder.

Saw something on Twitter about him negotiating a new deal? Any truth in that?

Really need to do so, his importance cannot be underestimated, he is a true leader of the squad. It is utterly infuriating to think there are players sitting on their arses earning 4 times what he does. If we don’t it doesn’t matter how much he loves the club, if he gets a better offer he could go.
