Really enjoyed Ryan Yates out performing Mowatt last night.

Ryan hasn't just gotten that good overnight. He's been that good all the time. Some of us have seen it all the time and some haven't. Cooper and his way of approaching the game has made it possible for Ryan to better show what he is capable. Probably still some haters out there but who cares.

Ryan has always had an expansive game of football. With the knack of being in the right place at the right time. That talismanic will to win. Successive coaches choosing him for the CM birth in the side. He got absolutely hammered by 'some' critics when Hughton's Forest were squealing the brakes against relegation. But out of that side, his never say die attitude to 'keep on going' against the adverse conditions saw him, in my eyes, rise head and shoulders against the over paid posers of the recruitment policy.

He was fantastic for Notts County during their promotion push before being recalled in 'that' January.

Sent to Scunthorpe, where, after a slight lull, he continued his development apace. A division above not phasing him.

Joining up with Aitor's 1st Summer camp, he impressed in pre-season along the equally expansive Gueddy and impressed. (Did he get a pre-season goal to boot?). In short, he didn't seem out of place alongside the progressive monster that was Gueddy.

Aitor ummed and ahhed a bit before deciding to keep him around.

After the 'fall out' with Aitor, MoN landed and Yates was an installed regular as both MoN and Keane encouraged Yate's box to box sensibilities.

Not the only player somewhat 'shackled' under the previous Manager, Cooper has given license to Yate's naturally expansive capabilities once more. With Ryan taking shots, headers and assists... His passing has come along 'just fine' under the progressive youth coach Cooper with some impressive passing range.

After one game missed through 'one yellow card too many' Yates was re-installed into the CM for Forest against WBA and you could tell. Forest were much more combative and alive with him in there and again, making himself a nuisance in the opposition penalty area. But for a bit more composure, a Ryan Yates header would have buried WBA. Ryan bossing and dominating that CM sans Colback. Making the much belly ached about Mowatt look entirely ordinary and 'crap' according to some scrutinising fans. In short, he wasn't Captain American anymore after our own 'Captain America' had finished with him.

If he can just bring his heading the ball along 'just that bit more' we'd have won a few more of our games and bagged more points as a result. That elusive final piece is going to make him a much coveted player amongst the competition.

He's an Academy graduate. A cross section of Ryan would reveal 'Forest Rock' throughout every section of his belief system. He plays football for Forest with sheer joy and with a humble school boy gratitude to be wearing the Forest shirt. In an age of cheque book mercenaries, Ryan is everything the Forest Academy stands for. Sheer belief, confidence, physically adept athletes and no small amount of skill. He gets an A for trying. 'A' for Attitude. An old school muck and nettles player who is still developing.

Captain in waiting. We're very lucky to have both Worrall and Ryan in the same side. I hope we can add the extra quality and depth that is missing to the obvious positions in the side. Because I'd love to see both these players lead Forest to a promotion charge to the Premiership.

Fully deserved for the most part he's been excellent.
