I believe you are right Alf but I agree with DT that the club should have done a lot more when informing the public about this milestone event. Great news like this requires a lot of positive noise.

The club put it on the official website and the official twitter feed not sure what more they could have done. After that I suppose it's up to journos to highlight the good news and create a story but they didn't. I agree with Sniffer that most journos are only interested in NFFC when there is some bad news to report on.

Congratulations to Forest on achieving cat 1 status it's a massive step forward for the club.

This is another example of where a director of football would help actually. If we had a known football figure, preferably someone also who was a bit media friendly in place, Im thinking Stuart Pearce but there are plenty other people, they could be the ones contacting Sky and saying come and do a piece here.
You are correct good news is never as well cover as bad and Sky will always have it second to covering what Harry Kane ate for breakfast this morning but we could do more. This is where the policy of the directors not communicating is hurting a little, its an old fashioned way now, someone to front up and increase our media presence helps raise the profile of the club.
I think Andy Reid could do this in years to come, he already has extensive media work and seems well liked.

I dont believe the conspiracy theories, Im sure they are serious about the stand but I am frustrated at lack of visible progress.

I dont buy the idea of blaming Covid particularly the no money coming in so bad business strategy bit. We found money to sign 17 players this season whilst in the middle of the pandemic.

I think EM and his management have always made it clear that on the field matters always takes priority. If we take them at their word, and add in the lack of income and being a million miles away from actually playing in the prem then you can see why there's been no urgency. 

And as for this never been a better time, not relevant to ffp etc etc, well that may be the case, and I agree, but it doesn't remove the fact that the project is likely to cost EM the best part of £80m in cash, on top of the 15 odd million a year he's already pumping in. You can criticise his lack of foresite etc, but that's a big number to commit to when the side is finishing lower bottom half of the table and there's no money coming in.

That’s the chicken and egg. 

They need to commit to do it to start getting better income.

Yes, you can keep on saying that and being critical but it doesn't change the fact that it's a massively costly exercise to undertake in a pandemic and with a shite side not doing the business. There are few clubs in our position who are investing in infrastructure in such a way in anticipation of a promotion happening. Bristol maybe (a few years ago). Fulham are in the construction phase of their stand but have had prem football and their business model on that development is probably driven more by the west london development gains rather than football fan facilities. I'd love it to happen now and I'm sure Rushcliffe too would welcome their riverside being regenerated, but it's EM that's writing the cheque.

So, you're saying that it's not happening then, as well?

The new revised plans are now in and like I said EM is still 100% committed to the project.
