Having giving it some thought overnight I am pleased with Chris Hughton.
Probably the best we could have hoped for where we are as a club right now. Welcome Chris.

I agree Sniffer. I maybe wanted a more progressive kind of a manager ala Bielsa (love the way Leeds have taken on the PL) but under the circumstances I now believe that Hughton probably is our best option for any kind of success this season. No realistic candidate can really match his CV. Starting to look forward to Blackburn now. The season starts now.

Cant wait to see how he'll change things. Will he be cautious and just tinker with Sabris 4321, or throw it all out the window and change it around?
There has to be a temptation to play 2 up top with the 2 quality strikers we now have, surely?

With his record, you'd imagine the players would be immediately respectful of the appointment rather than spending the first few weeks trying to work out the new guy and what he was about.

If it was 442 have we got the wingers for that though? I could see 4411 with Freeman in behind Grabban. Feels like Freeman is our best attacking player so we build around him

The more I think about it the more I think CH is a top quality manger for us. Probably the best in the division with his record and longevity. As much as I didnt want to see Sabri go, or rather didnt want there to be a change of manager again, Im really quite enthused about his appointment this morning. And we have a manager again, not a head coach.
Quality players, quality manager. Bring it on.

I dont think 442 really works these days, it leaves you outnumbered in the middle. I agree, 4411 looks favourite to me but our full backs are more wing backs so not sure how that'll work.

The opposition will also be guessing how we are going to play.

I think that Mighten has the ability to play off the main striker, maybe as a false number 9. Having the low centre of gravity, loads of energy and good ball control I reckon he could be useful running in from deep. In the BC game he was causing their defenders all sorts of problems, and drawing fouls. It will be interesting to see how CH plays him. He might not have the stamina to last 90 minutes considering his age and non stop energy. Also does anyone think that Grosicki might have second thoughts about joining us ?
As good as we're gonna get, although like any manager he's gonna need backing with time & money.
Sab kind got that to a certain degree, but we can't skank Hughton with another Jan like we just had if he has us punching. I think it may take him 2 years to make us a genuine promotion contender, and not chancer/outside bets (like last year). Not having this pre-season is a sod for any manager.

Was he one of the players that Sabri had lost and just didnt turn up when called upon. I wouldnt be surprised if we dont see a resurgent Joe Lolley from now on in!
