We are just discussing Brice Samba.

I guess it's the age we live in, but all players make mistakes. Perfection is very rare in football. As someone has already said. Brice is very young for a keeper and is part of the best defence we have had since Coops was at its heart. That's not a coincidence, plus what are the alternatives?  

I hope that despite some of the disgusting reaction on tw@tter and one or two forums/groups; Brice, Grabbs and especially Joe Worrall know that 99.9% of supporters appreciate them and what they are achieving. All 3 have been brilliant this season in the 2nd tier.

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism, but some of the things those 3 players were getting called was appalling.

Genuinely wasnt suggesting that. However, in many circles the middle ground has disappeared. A few really decent games - best thing since sliced bread, a few iffy performances, abuse ensues. 

Samba is excellent at this level and has all the tools and potential to be a good Prem keeper. His form has clearly dipped and Saturday played poorly, it's how he responds that will define him. Overhyped? By some maybe, but most people would probably rate him as I have wouldn't they?

Like Salvatore said earlier there is/was some very good points being made regarding Brice.

I kile Samba but I have heard it said that he is the best keeper since Shilton which is way off the mark. No wonder some think that he's been overhyped. It wasn't difficult following in the foot steps of Pantilimon and Muric. I wouldn't be against us signing another goalkeeper in the close season, not to replace Samba but to push him more than what Smith is capable of doing (nothing against Jordan Smith).

Probably why this is the only place I get into discussion/ debate, as much more balanced, credit due to you and the members. (NG3 apart)

I do glance over other sites including the opposition local newspapers after a game. (Sad I know). Its scary some of the s**t that can be read-not on here- put out by some people who call themselves Forest supporters.

Anyway, Brice: If he produces levels of performance we have seen for large parts of this season on a consistent basis he will grow to be top draw. Currently in a "difficult moment" as managers like to say. The key is that he doesn't have any specific weaknesses, so overhyped at this stage? Possibly. But could he live up to the hype in the future? Probably...

I'm not sure Brice gets into that top 5 yet but may do if he has a solid 2nd season.

I think overhyped is fair however this is more due to his excellent performances early on. As we've refined our tactics to be able to concede less chances his role has changed slightly, which perhaps doesn't fully now show off his range of ability and shot stopping.

I think he's retreated to closer to his natural level however as I said before he's only in his second season playing first team football and first in the uk. His weaknesses are very coachable so I expect him to improve over time.

For me the difference between Samba and Pants is that he always saves the ones he should. The amount of goals pants conceded when you really felt he couldve done better was really costly, particularly low shots. Samba is great and getting in the right position to make saves and getting his body involved.

Its nice to have someone you don't expect to give cheap goals away, not had that since DDV.
