Some good points being made here.

He is the best we have had for a long time, his confidence feeds through to his defence, all good.

However I think many are getting sucked in by his character and interaction with the fans, he has put in a few iffy performances including before lockdown. He also has the tendency to punch shots and crosses away rather than catching which many european keepers do now, never been a fan of that.

But he is still only 26, young for a keeper and 1st season in England, overall he is doing well.

This is only his second season of playing regularly. When he joined he seemed to stay on his line too much, he just needs to learn better how to deal with crosses. I think that will be ironed out as he certainly has the confidence to do it!

If pants or Smith had made the errors like millwall and over the weekend they would have been slated. Perhaps it is a concentration issue at the end of games...lamouchi has alluded to it previously.

The difference is though Jock Samba has built up a lot of goodwill credit so when he makes a mistake we're prepared to cut him some slack. With Pants he was mostly average and then threw in the odd howler.

Pants was terrible. Samba is not perfect but a definite upgrade on Pants.

Yes I know he did that ridiculous “I’ll stand here and the ball will drop into my hands, Oh heck I didnt realise everyone else will actually jump for the ball” thing that Pants used to do.

To be fair, as weak as it was he committed to go for the cross. What I cant stand in a keeper is indecision as to whether to go or stay on the line. Muric was guilty of that, so too Pants and Smith, Samba very rarely which is why he instils confidence.

I guess it's the age we live in, but all players make mistakes. Perfection is very rare in football. As someone has already said. Brice is very young for a keeper and is part of the best defence we have had since Coops was at its heart. That's not a coincidence, plus what are the alternatives?  

I hope that despite some of the disgusting reaction on tw@tter and one or two forums/groups; Brice, Grabbs and especially Joe Worrall know that 99.9% of supporters appreciate them and what they are achieving. All 3 have been brilliant this season in the 2nd tier.

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism, but some of the things those 3 players were getting called was appalling.

Hes still the best keeper we have had in 20 years in my opinion. He would be next level if he made better decisions with some of these. Hopefully the experiences will make him better..surely will .

We could be winning the league if we didnt piss away so many points.

We are just discussing whether Samba has been overhyped nothing more than that.

I agree with you Zico.

Ive just laid into a delivery driver who was delivering a parcel from Forest to my door. He started slagging Wozza off from Sunday and I just let rip. I asked him how many times this season has Wozza dropped a clanger like that? How many times has he thrown his entire body in front of a shot? How many times has he had to clear off the line? How many times has he had a bad game?

The guy looked a bit surprised TBH, not sure if it was because I was having a go or because I wasn't slagging Wozza off.

How many times has Grabban missed howlers this season, yet he continues to be hailed as a top man. Thats because he has 19 goals to his name. 19 times he has done what he is paid to do, which is score goals. How many times has Wozza, or Cashy or Figs or Samba or Ribs saved us from conceding at the other end? Lots, but we don't know how many times they have though!

For a striker to not do their job perfectly, there are others who will do it for them. The same cannot always be said for defenders or the goal keeper, as if they make a mistake at the back, it can, and often does, end with a goal being conceded.
