I have to give Forest much deserved credit by not
speaking out and making things public.

Many times in the past have we been guilty of leaking
stuff that doesn't help us or other clubs - This also
applies to our other dealings since the takeover and
since Kranky has been at the helm.

It's very frustrating for supporters when they see a
journalistic article and then others jumping on it with
the same quotes and fanning the flames - something
supporters like to get their teeth into and then start to
believe in it and posting it on forums (like this).

We know what journalists do and they're very good at
it because what they don't know they will make up and
we've witnessed this only this week when the story of us
being interested in Liverpool's Sheyi Ojo - it rumbled on
for a while and we had conflicting reactions from supporters
when it said we was about to spend £10m on the player but
Kranky had to step in on this one to say "Nottingham Forest
has dismissed reports linking Forest with a move for Liverpool
winger Sheyi Ojo" but it didn't stop the press running away
with it and having a field day.

Keeping our house in order and keeping stuff under wraps
until it's the right time is what this club has needed for a very
long time, so fair play to them. We may never know what the
ins & outs of the Byram situation is or was but Forest have
now got it right and again fair play to them.

The way we are operating is exceptional.
Also the way we are 1 by 1 removing the dead wood and for good financial business.
Getting 2.5m for Mackay and Kapino is genius

Even if we don't get Byram we can pretty much be sure that we'll get someone of comparable quality instead. It seems that Karanka has landed most of his primary targets this summer. The only one I can think of who we were linked with but didn't get was Max Clark from Hull - so instead we signed Jack Robinson.

The reason going for Byram is cos we didn’t get out first choice which was Hutton. Club really thought that was a done deal. With Byram and if permanent would be a better long term investment (well if he finds his Leeds form).

Good point - I'd totally forgotten about Hutton!

Agree that Byram would definitely be a better signing for the long-term - and arguably a better player full stop.

Not forgetting that at the the time Byram may not have been available who knows but it must happen all the time you sign a player and one you would have preferred becomes available a week later

Surely the attempted signing of Hutton was just an opportunistic effort to land a player who would've otherwise been unavailable had Villa not had their issues?

I didn't come off but it's not like he went and signed for anyone else is it?

Whoa guys - far too much logic being applied here!

Oops sorry - I’d forgotten which site I’m a member of...

That may have been so, but he was clubs first choice, in fact they had a verbal agreement from player he would join. He was also cover for Left back as well and was to replace Lichaji

I think at the time we went for Hutton, Karanka was looking for a wiser
and older head to stabilize our shaky defence. As it happens things are
turning out for the better in that department should we get Byram.

Well I'm not counting it so in my book it's just the Hull player that got away!

:P

Just hope Byram can shake off the cobwebs of the last 2 years and regain his Leeds form quickly.

But having said that, IMO Darikwa will do better this year with an organised team around him.

Please do not lambaste me if I'm wrong!!!

Only telling you what I've just heard and it's in good faith
but I'm hearing that the Byram deal is now done @ £3m.

If it is bunkum I'm sorry but I am only saying what I've
just heard.
