Those 2 games are the only ones where he has been given the number 10 starting role - and it worked.
Do not fall into the trap of judging him in other games where he has played alongside Silva, played totally out of position on the wing or been brought on to chase a game where we are struggling.
I haven’t seen players such as Grabban, Yates, Semedo ( to name just 3 ) being asked to play wide. Why? They’re not wingers. Well neither is Carvalho!
And Sow? Of course he must play - but he ain’t a number 10.
Carvalho is!
Give him a run in the side.
If it doesn’t work then fair enough - but 100% success ( admittedly in just 2 games ) says that he fully deserves a longer run ( in Silva’s absence).
Yes. Compared to all the games he's been brought into the game to influence. If so good he is, why no assists? No goals?
The Coach has deployed him as he sees fit. And, again, if so good he is...why no assists? Or goals? (Didn't MoN vs Boro' deploy Car' out of position and he scored?)
The 'trap' is entirely of Car's making. It's in his head. Not mine, nor yours. He needs to start believing and making it happen.
I thought if a player 'can play' then he can 'stand' being 'slightly' out of position. He wasn't being asked to play in goal, upfront or at RB or DCM.
But Sow could play across his defensive line. And make a fist of it as a CH, I'd vouch. Car' wasn't being deployed like a fish out of water. But if that was the case, why did the Coach play him there? Car is an attacking player. Maybe he can't play 'that well' if the team isn't built around him.
Car' isn't so far. He's hard nearly two seasons. And we're highlighting 'two' matches that he started and the season in now in its home stretch. I'm quite happy for Car' to be deployed in Silva's absence (He'll have to compete with Lolley in that role...) But we need tackles, tracking back, assists and goals. I'll be happy if it arrives.
He's had a plenty of time in the side. But he hasn't been influential in assists or goals. It's been like playing with ten so many times. And sometimes he's been awful for a £13.5 million player.
2 games. 100% success. Inconsequential. Or why doesn't the coach have him starting every match? If it doesn't work coming off the bench why would it work starting games?

You’re wrong!
And his £13.5m cost is immaterial.

Best way to solve any financial issues. How much do the play off winners get. Is it around 200M or something?

Like I said, TPL.
A thousand words.
You're wrong! (And you've certainly judged Yates for scoring the goal that got us at least the point. Whilst praising Car' for? What has he done all season, again? Yes. He can 'play a bit' but none of that seems to involve assists, tackles, goals...or tracking back.) He can't say the current Coach hasn't given him plenty of chances because he has. Two coaches have had him on 'Watching duty' now. Why is that? You must see something they don't. Perhaps in the metrics that weigh heavily in favour of Championship football, the team without Yates (in the absence of anything better, young players are inconsistent) sags and the team with Car' isn't as influential as the price tag suggests it should be. Yates, out of form, an 'off game' and 'can't play' still scored a decent goal from a relatively forward position. Car' despite, apparently, being able to 'play' didn't.
His £13.5 million cost is material. It's part of why Forest are 'on the line' with FFP. They gambled. It hasn't payed off. Transfer business is like that. Against Boro', a FREE (no £13.5 million) young, developing (and all the erratic that comes from that...) Yates scored a goal that stopped Forest losing. Forest should (there is no should) or the defence could have done a better job. But Watson, Worrall, Cash and Samba didn't drape themselves in glory. That Bostock and Car' came on and did better. Well. Good. But could they have done any worse? Car' 'played a bit'. But where are the assists? Where are the goals? That's his job?

What a way to solve the finances that would be. Just what the doctor ordered.

If Carlsberg did financial fixers.

The one player who will most likely be sold if we need to raise funds is not mentioned in your post Oz.
That player will be Carvalho and if he is sold to Olympiakos the fee will be high, high enough for us to be able to hang onto our top players and spend some cash in the summer. I think some are over reacting.

Worrall hasn't looked worth 12 million over the last 'couple' (1 win in 6?) of games.
Neither has Cash 15 million.
Nor Samba 8 million.
'Heart of the team.' There didn't seem to be that much 'heart' vs Millwall.
The talisman (and 'heart beat') of the team is injured.

He's had two seasons. And for £13.5 million it's polite to say it isn't working and hasn't worked out. If that's what Olympiakos can do to help Forest keep their players and build on the chemistry the team does have (the 1st team note the caveat...) then so be it. There were heavy rumours of the move to Oly'. And it's clear he's been given the rest of the season to get 'it on' at Forest. I don't expect him to stay beyond this season.
Every player has their price. Under Doughty or Fawas, the jewels were sold and relegation struggles followed. I think the current owners are more canny than that. And more ambitious. You only have to look at the Olympian work done at Olympiakos to see where Forest are going. But there is a price to pay along the way. It's the price of 'freedom.'
If Forest crash out of the top 6, I don't expect the Coach to be here in the Summer and anything might then happen. i hope Forest can stay in the top 6. But that means getting Sow (and Silva) back real soon. Forest have a 5 point buffer (that they built up with Sow in the side.)
