Evangelos Marinakis wants to make Nottingham Forest even bigger than Olympiacos.

Christian Karembeu, the sport director at Olympiacos and former advisor to the man who presides over both clubs, says Marinakis has a "big project" in mind at the City Ground.

He's not gonna do that anytime soon if we keep up the current recruitment policy.

Crikey Alf, what are you like at parties?!

I’d say that the current recruitment policy is pretty new - getting Modesto in and moving to the transfer team and head coach model, and one I’m in favour of. Proof of the pudding will come shortly...

Are you the same Alf who’s the main moaner on ltlf?

We finished higher last season than we’ve finished for about six years. Why is there suddenly a problem with recruitment policy?

Just giving my POV. We've signed some very sub-par players, with the odd one capable of getting us up, and also recruited managers in a very scattergun way too.

If it's new, we're still doing exactly the same thing as we have since EM got involved - trusting agents to bring in lots of unproven, unknown players to the club on the cheap in the hope something works, with the odd decent signing to back it up.

This window so far has seen us lose Colback, and an already weak frontline which was wafer thing last year become even thinner. There's been a bit of balance added to the squad, but again with unknowns & chancer signings.

Our policy seems awful tbh. 13m spent on 1 player and loans, cheapos & freebies expected to take us up in all other areas of the squad, and the model means little if all we're gonna keep signing is crap.

Hefele
Dias
Dejagger
Goncalves
Janko
Ansarifard
Tomlin
Soudani
Steele
Tachtsidis
Fuentes
Kapino

Players who last year were deemed to be taking us up.

Lets hope this year the unknowns are a damn sight better.

After spending 25m. 9th is hardly a great return on such an investment.

I've always had a problem with the policy. 13m on 1 player to then pad the squad out with loans & cheapos is an awful way to operate.

Grabban was a good signing no doubt. They definitely got that one right.

But they should have backed it up with a McGinn at 2.5m, not a Carva at 13m or even a Soundani at 2.7m

This year, they definitely need to get him some proper backup too.

25m!!

13m for Carvalho!!

Where the f**k are you getting these figures from?

Oh, I nearly forgot; Soudani was such a terrible buy that we made a profit when we sold him.

Shame on the Club for having such dreadful business acumen.

As I said on the other thread forest have recouped more money in transfer fees than they’ve spent in the 3 years the Greeks have been in charge.

As I said before it’s not fair to compare carvalho with probably the best value signing made by any team! If you’re going to pick a 2.5m player pick someone in the middle as that’s more likely who’d we’d have ended up with

For the year ending 2017 we made a profit of 14.706m and for the year ending 2018 we made a profit of 10.053m

We will have a deficit for the year ending 2019 but I bet it will be nothing like 25m, not even close.
