Not much to add to Widdow’s summation other than:
- redevelopment confined to PT stand at this stage ( disappointed - BC stand as an example in need of urgent work to allow smooth entry/exit/movement & ability to eat/drink. Attract fans early. Retain post match. Enjoy profits currently drained by local hostelries ).
- boat clubs virtually unaffected ( only 1 building out of 4 to be demolished? )
- 2 x residential blocks are part of the development.
- healthy discussion took place whilst I was there re in-house catering & bars ( learn from Spurs initiative where for 5 hours pre/during/post game the ground is pretty full with fans eating & drinking at reasonable prices - can/will Forest learn from this & adopt at least some of it ).

BC stand will have to have cheaper tickets (than new PT) otherwise it will be empty.

It wouldn't be too hard to have a setup where some fans can get a pre/post match pint (and food). Just look how busy all the surrounding bars are and how popular the carpark bar (family zone) behind BC has been.

I am sure the club know what they are doing, it won't be empty. If we are in the PL it will be full, if not it will still be very well populated. The away fans may even move there yet. Still early days lets see what happens.

Away fans? Bloody hope not!!!
Enjoyed my tickets on halfway line in BC upper since the stand first opened - no wish to move ( that is unless we can get similar new PT stand seats ).

Forest finally have a future plan to build on their past glory rather than reflecting on faded dreams.

It's real. It's happening. Owners who are serious about taking Forest forwards. No more sleeping. No more grime. No more rot. The New Peter Taylor Stand is a grand keystone and a marker of where Forest are going.

Planning is relatively 'imminent.'

I can't see the bars in the ground, with no sun in summer, no warmth in winter and nowhere to sit taking away from the excellent pre and post match drinks establishments around NG2. Like it or not it is one of the things that makes a trip to WFCG so enjoyable.
A decent 2.55 pint or HT pint would be nice though.

Where to buy a pint is not on the list of my priorities when it comes to our cracking new stadium development. It's a minor detail.

I’m delighted that the ground is being modernised and we are getting a new PT stand. I actually sit in the current stand and love it for the atmosphere, view and ease of access. I think I may lose some of that with the new stand and possibly have to pay a bigger premium to get my equivalent seat in the future. I also think many have made some excellent points regarding the disappointing design. I preferred the first one on looks and it also looks like the corner has been built up another level for corporate etc...
I’m also concerned the revamp has of other stands has somewhat been shelved. I was hoping to hear about a refit of spaces within Trent end and BC stand that have great scope for modernisation. For example the room behind the BC stand could incorporate stall like units.
I just hope we end up with something we can be proud of and looks decent. It looks a bit tired as it is...

Don't think there are any problems Oz with that it will just be done in two phases now instead of one as far as I am aware.

That makes sense from a logistics point of view.

They'll press on with the rest of the ground when the Peter Taylor Stand is complete.  Just that alone will give the City Ground a huge boost.

This/\ no point trying to compete with what's available locally.

I don't agree.

The days of treating the typical football supporter as a second class citizen and charging the Earth for the privilege does not wash anymore; and it is refreshing that we have Owners who understand that.

The current fare on offer at the ground for people in the cheap seats is still not up to standard, but at least the Club have taken steps to improve things.

The new stand gives the Club the perfect opportunity to make significant improvements in both the scope of what is on offer and to the comfort in which people eat and drink; the upgrade to the concourses throughout the ground even more so.

This is an area in which the club can make huge increases in income; I'm sure most people would rather get to the ground early and have something to eat and drink provided it is of an acceptable standard and price, particularly if you have a number of kids in tow.

We might have a very loyal fan base but even they will not fill 38k seats on a regular basis; the Club competes in a very competitive entertainments market and everything should be done to attract the casual supporter.

Cost, comfort and quality of what is on offer will enhance the match day experience and make it all the more memorable.

There were some quotes from the architect saying one aim is to keep people in the stadium for longer to reduce the congestion of everyone leaving at the same time, so that is in their thinking. It’s a matter of whether they execute the idea well.
