Yates did a great job today for our team. Not every player can pass like Gazza, dribble  like Messi, or score a tonne of goals like Fat Frank. The fact (sorry opinion) is that Yates is a very promising young player, still developing, inexperienced at this level and will only get better. Personally, I would want to play with him in midfield. The b@ll@x I have read about what the lad supposedly can't do...(after about 5 minutes in our academy, kids can receive the ball, open out etc or they won't last)....anyway, I'm buzzing off today and every one of our 14 players contributed.

Good summary that on Yates. He is not at the level of Sow yet but he can get there. Still only 20 I think, I wonder how good Sow was when he was 20.

Doubt Sow was at the level of Yates when he was 20 but I don't know. It will be great to have Sow back after the break but Yates is more than capable of stepping in and doing a good job when called upon.

It's not inconceivable that a midfield 3 of Watson, Yates and Sow could play together. Obviously, would be most likely when closing out a game, but if Lolley and Ameobi were both firing on all cylinders, the width would be unbelievable as no midfield could dominate them. Its not like Sow and Watson in particular give the ball away much.

I was thinking that too, although Silva does seem to be stepping it up recently so want him in the really.

Could be an option to allow watson some rest, I would imagine the three of them will rotate a bit with Yates last in the rotation. Sow will miss more games anyway, got a suspension on the horizon too for example

I appreciate that he is young and enthusiastic Sniffer, but as you say, he has got to learn a lesson from today because that challenge was far too reckless and, like you also said, he got away with one against the Rams.

Ryan needs to reign in that over-zealousness and channel it in the right direction

I see a big future for Yates, but he has to now realise there are better ways to react to provocation (if there was any) or to establish he is not to be messed with in this league or to smash a player who deserves it (Lawrence). He will get enough red and yellows in his career for mistimed tackles or rubbish refs so daft 2 footed lunges need to be left for when we are 3-0 up against Sheep or Scousers.

He has to learn from that today. However Lolley deserves some criticism with the ball he gave him. It put him in that position in the first place and it should have been an easy pass. Yates still stupid though...

Young lad learning his trade. Bags of time to learn yet, and sometimes the best way to learn is to experience it.

Yates will know he's just handed someone else a chance to cement their place in the side ahead of him now. That'll wake him up.
