Have you heard any names?

They’re already out there. Don’t expect a repeat of last summer but I think we will get one marque striker

Marquis would be a replacement for Murphy not the main one

If we spend more than 6 million this year i would be quite shocked.
The championship as a whole is looking like a lot of clubs are just skint so are holding onto what they've got, unless silly money comes in. So the season will be pretty much as you were with only a few clubs changing positions because of luck and coaches getting something extra out of the players from last season. It really is going to be the season of who coaches the best.

Unless our Company Accounts are a complete work of fiction we are in a very good position financially; in fact, I would go as far as saying the accounts are in the best state they have been in this century, if not, they are very close to being. I think what we will get now is managers having to justify spending rather than taking a scatter gun approach; that can only be good. We will spend money in the market in the coming days; some people may be underwhelmed with who we buy, but that does not mean they will be bad players. I bet Norwich fans were not overly excited with their signings at the start of last season.
I never said we were skint I said the championship as a whole seems to have skint clubs which means unless stupid money is offered for their players they aren’t going to let anyone of real value go. No club will want to be weaken dramatically, as they will not be in a position to replace with the quality required unless it is silly money received. What we are going to see this year is more clubs will be closer to FFP than ever before and suffer the pain that we did a few seasons back.
As to why we will not spend much well again that is due to a bit of FFP but more of having such a large squad on big wages. Our main aim is to reduce the squad this transfer window, as right now the squad is unstainable with players on large historical contracts who are in the final year of the contract and probably of the their football careers. Freeing up squad spaces and wages will be a very hard task for all those involved and being that we do need move players out to show profit and sustainability for the season I would not expect us to begin to bring players until we have levels back within a reasonable number. This brings its own problems of course as we may want a player but do you think they would be prepared to wait for us to move players out if they have other contract offers. Yes there will be cases where the club might be willing to take that risk but as business model it isn’t good practice. So the time will be a factor in being able to spend and do I think this board is stupid enough to mad panic at the end of the window? No I do not. I think that they will have targets and if they haven’t been able to get them they will not just go out and get any man and their dog. I also do not expect the club to bring 6 or more new faces I think you will see 3 maybe 4 if you include loan deals this season. From what we have seen the club is looking to make use of scouting network and pick up possible cheaper players who could make the grade from lower leagues, which I will add is a sensible approach and is as much of a risk as signing names because you can never know how someone will perform. There are bargains out in the market and it is about finding them, which the club is more than capable of doing. Then there is the players who have been released from contracts, which again we can assume the club is looking at and will try to take advantage of. The next reason and you did mention it that last year was a scatter gun approach to signings. This season i very much doubt this would happen. Again I think a sensible approach of where are the holes/improvements required will have been looked and we will sign what the manager thinks we need. We will not sign anyone for the sake of it. So what I was saying was that with all the works that goes into transfers and the direction the club seems to be heading is that I very much doubt we will spend above 6 million this season on the transfer fee’s (only) even if we can. Hope that explains it a bit better. I would also add that I do not expect to see much spending from other clubs either and it will be very much same teams with the same players as last season going for it this season. Which is why the difference this year will not be the players, it will be the team who is coached the best.

We will bring in 10m from Soudani, Karim and Ozzy.
We will spend 10-15m IMO, which will mean a small net spend

I agree with you on the whole but what Norwich did do over the last couple of seasons is more or less exclusively sign players between the age of 21-28 with the exception of Tim Krul who was 30, which isn't old for a keeper. So they basically signed players in their prime or ones just coming into it, something I hope we do... but when you see us linked to players like Olsson and Adomah you wonder if much has really changed in our scouting. I'd be much happier with us signing cheaper players entering their prime years from Europe like Norwich did than I would if we signed over 30s who are exiting their prime and probably on fairly significant wages.

In all fairness, Adomahs name was first linked to us via BristolLive, who seems to have a thing about us, especially during the close season when not a lot is happening. They were doing that last year, claiming we were in for every name available. That paper has an obsession with Forest and Leeds
