Going back to the tital of the thread, anybody have any information on what the second infrastructure project is going to be?

The second infrastructure project is rumored to be a brand spanking, state of the art, Academy, situated on land very close to Holme Pierrpoint.

This frees up the land at Gresham Close which is rumored to be sold for housing.

Given the size of the land at the Academy and the number of houses it could accommodate, the assumption is that this will go a long way to financing both the Ground and the new Academy.

That's the rumor circulating.

Those numbers would interest me away from the football for a moment. Talking about £100mio development costs for the ground on one hand, but a lot of financing for that and a major academy build could come from developing the current academy site ?how much, and how much did EM pay for the club that contains this land with such development potential? Great if that’s true and sounds like EM may have got a good deal?

One thing being overlooked here is the fact that Gresham Close is currently classed as recreational land and it would be very difficult for this land to be reclassified into housing from a planning perspective IMO

The way the club is working with the council and other stakeholders is encouraging, especially when you consider the low base the club had going back to ND days and the disputed Trent end bond and then Fawazed. The council had their fingers burnt there so to get so much cooperation has took an immense amount of work. Well done to all involved so far!

Well sure as hell the value of the land on which the academy located if sold would raise but a fraction of the investment being touted for the refurb of the CG.

The whole sell the land to make the money is not an issue

Marinakis can walk into any Swiss Bank at the moment deposit 200m and the bank will lend him 200m at 0.5% their interest rates are -0.75% if you deposit funds they have to give you money to make money

What they deploy the funds on is no concern to a bank when backed by a corporation will a billions on the balance sheet, the banks will be chucking money at the bloke there is more cash than there are projects for banks

I'd be shocked if it required a face to face meeting, he could finance this a thousand different ways with zero risk to himself or the club

perhaps the new academy might be sited just across the river ? one more relegation for the pies will see their home become a vacant plot. then just add a little pedestrian bridge over the Trent and Forest have doubled the City Ground foot print. Just in time for a mega development and perhaps even a monorail ....lol

The rumour originated from a sponsors event held at the ground.

Tricky is quite correct when he says the land is currently classified as recreational, however, significant changes have been made with regard to planning and reclassification of land due to the housing shortage.

The Government introduced a fast track appeals process in 2016 so that Councils cannot sit on decisions forever and a day; anyone refused planning and thinks they have a valid case can go straight to the Government and appeal the decision.

I doubt very much that the club would get in to a disagreement with the local authorities, that is assuming there is any veracity in the rumor.

I read somewhere that County had an agreement in place with the council, that terms of the lease or potential moving from Meadow Lane would not happen while ever they were in the football league. Now this is not the case that land may be sold on and County may get a new home elsewhere which got me thinking.

The 100m figure for our redevelopment, could this also include the purchase of the land the City Ground sits on?

I can't see it being likely they will struggle to sell 240 apartments somehow. 

Imagine living in one of them, then just popping over the walkway to watch a match, then back home in time for the results at 5.00!!   :D
