Isn't "Tory Tom" reference to Tom Cartledge? A few of us used to refer to Tom C as that on socials especially after he had Sunak and co up.

If the club leaves it's present location then I am done.

And there are thousands and thousands who feel the same way.

Nothing can stay the same forever. Many other clubs have successfully moved and now get bigger gates and much higher financial returns because their stadiums are bigger with better facilities, and often easier to get to. Everton is the latest and I bet you will not hear many of their fans complaining about leaving an iconic, atmospheric  40,000 stadium for a larger  and much more comfortable one. If Forest do not respond to SCR we will get left behind. Lets all hope these plans for the City Ground are not kicked into the long grass by Rushcliffe Borough Council and we get what is promised by the dates proposed. Otherwise it will surely be time to look at another location.

I honestly don't want to leave our current location, it is iconic and steeped in history. But at some point, something has to give and if that's a bridge tying this further up for a number of years then maybe that is where we have to seriously consider other options. Although even then, we could tied up in planning objections etc where-ever is chosen

Who knows if another bridge is even feasible between the existing bridges. It isn’t just the cost which is significant enough, it is finding a suitable location, devising a model, acquiring the land, getting planning permission, building it. Could take years in which time Forest become less and less able to compete with teams who deriving way more income from their stadium than us and the eventual building costs keep increasing. Move to a less problematic location where building work could start quickly imagine what £1.5 billion buy.

Well we’ve been talking about his next for years and the Club have dragged their heels on it more than the Council.

If a new bridge is feasible in proximity to the City Ground, and it is a big if, I think it is reasonable that Forest contribute to financing it as the Club will benefit from it. However, we probably have 30 home matches maximum per year, maybe a bit less, where fans will be arriving and leaving over a four-five hour period each time. That is not really a lot of use generated by Forest. However, other local business's in the City and West Bridgford can potentially benefit all year round by improving transport links to ease congestion, Notts County and Nottinghamshire Cricket Club could benefit, as would local residents and the local councils. They will all potentially benefit some of them 365 days a year. No problem Forest contributing up to  half the costs but so should some of the other potential beneficiaries especially the councils.

But those others don’t “need” an additional bridge, it’s just a nice to have. 

We need one if we are to increase capacity others someone will get killed one day on Trent Bridge. That someone being a Forest fan going to / from a match.

Might be like i said previously then. Time to move elsewhere and build a new stadium with the £1.5 billion upgrading the city ground is already alleged to be costing if started now and ever built. If another bridge outside the Trent End isn’t feasible we will have a choice of moving to a new site and allowing us to compete financially with most of the rest of the premier league or settling on being a relative small club with a relative small fan base in comparison.

It will be because it is listed and the Facia will be protected - to build something similar today to replicate would be a huge expense. However, I’m sure an architect could do something creative but it would probably be cheaper to build a new foot bridge!

It will be because it is listed and the Facia will be protected - to build something similar today to replicate would be a huge expense. However, I’m sure an architect could do something creative but it would probably be cheaper to build a new foot bridge!

No chance anything's going to be allowed that alters the structure or appearance of Trent Bridge. You just can't do that to a listed building (or structure in this case). And because it's listed, it's 'setting' is protected. So another bridge alongside it, that restricts the view of it, is also going to be out of the question.
