I beginning to think if Forest held on to later in the window they would've got a better price for Anderson.
Obviously that was not practical in the circumstances.

Thought exactly the same earlier. Selling clubs are seeing the price received for Anderson and going up from there.

Wassy, read this forum I would say that many posting on here share the same opinions and that it what it is an opinion. I think that if we do buy any further players this window that we we be paying a premium!

Jolly - i kind of see your point but ultimately whether we got players in before or after selling Anderson I don’t think would have made any difference. We are shopping in a completely different market this window, looking to improve the starting 11 rather than bring in back ups. Those players aren’t cheap and inevitably are already at the so called bigger clubs who don’t sell cheaply. Any club we were dealing with as well would know Anderson was likely going to City and for a massive fee.

Yes transfer fees are getting ridiculous but it is where we are and Anderson’s sale is no more a contributing factor to the silly prices than the sales of Fernandez, Caicedo, Isaak, Wirstz etc in recent seasons. In fact you could argue that Newcastle did what you are suggesting with Isaak and held out for max profit and reied getting their replacements in before selling. If I recall that resulted in them spending c£50m on Elanga, £70m on Woltemade and £55m on Wissa - hardly cheap deals and I would argue cost that much because their clubs knew Isaak was likely off, would be sold for a record fee and Newcastle were desperate for replacements.

I think we've caused a spike in the market because the big 6 clubs don't consider any player of lowly Nottingham Forest could be possibly worth anything like £116m. And on that basis they're looking at their own player and working on the premise that he's worth more, just because he plays for a top side. It's a twisted way of looking at it. It's like Delap, Chelsea honestly think he's worth £50+, just because he plays for them.

Also, I suspect the statement put out via Percy yesterday was a message to selling clubs to back off with their inflated valuations of players we might be interested in. i.e. we don't urgently need players and as such we wont be paying inflated fees.

It works the other way as well. If we had held out with Anderson to get more money, but in the meantime spent the money, City would know towards the end of the window that we're desperate to get the money in and the fee would likely go down.

At least this way, we have the money in the bank and we get to choose how to spend it or not, depending on what other clubs quote to us.

He's not saying the same thing as you, he's saying that Anderson moved the market in general.

Everyone knew we were going to sell Anderson as everyone knew we needed to for SCR/PSR which are a matter of public record. So the idea that of we'd waited until now, despite all the rampant speculation, that say Spurs would've been like "Nah take Bergvall, we don’t care, we know that's all you've got". 

If we on a forum are aware of all this stuff, you don't think those professionals that work at football clubs might also be aware?
