How advanced are we with planning applications etc? Is there anything that could yet scupper the project? I assume NFFC are fairly confident given the fanfare, just wondered if for example we are going to get NIMBYs from West Bridgford complaining about increased traffic and matchday parking blocking access for their Range Rovers etc.
Sorry for the glass half empty question, Forest have made me sceptical about most things down the years, we have seen a few artist drawings of new stadia before with nothing coming to fruition.
Really want to believe it this time!
It’s a good question and one I asked of the project team this morning. Apparently, discussions have been had with the planners so whilst it’s not formally been submitted they have been consulted. One really positive factor is the buy in from both the leader of the city council and Rushcliffe borough council. With that kind of support it should ease the process somewhat.
With regards issues such as traffic etc. A detailed transport impact assessment and strategy will need to be submitted as part of the planning application to demonstrate how the additional visitor numbers will be accommodated and how the impact on the local transport networks mitigated. When it gets to this level it’s a matter of policy and is determined by the highways agency through the planning process, nymbyism shouldn’t come into it.
On a personal note I’m really impressed that forest are so keen to engage with the fans on this and aren’t just blinkered to their needs as a club. Hopefully this will provide some great ideas to improve the scheme further before it goes into planning in a couple of months time.
Interestingly the practice called a staff meeting for tomorrow morning and I’m wondering if it’s to present the project to us. If so I’ll be sure to pass on any interesting info (if it won’t get me into trouble ?)

Don't know if it's been mentioned already but, while they're at it, I wish they would find some way of closing off the corners, it would make a massive difference acoustically.

Looks absolutely sensational
I always knew a decent architect could do something great with the space available at the CG
A huge step forwards off the pitch, now to make a huge step forwards on it
Belief is back at the CG, this is a brilliantly timed piece of PR from the club
What a week it’s been

(This post was last modified: 01-03-2019, 03:22 AM by PsychoStanleyStone.)
the main stand needs serious attention, the drinking experience in the bowels of the other 3 stands is I guess mediocre, though I quite liked the pint of mud
however I like to have a cigarette with a pint, as a result of this the club don't really want me, other fans don't want me, we officially have to want to get the kids and wives and disabled and transgenders along to enjoy the game, but not me, the only place I could have a smoke was at the back of A block on the stairs which I did enjoy but sorry if I spoiled anyones experience
i'll probably go vape at some stage but even then I can still see myself, even if I am 5 yards away from everyone, in the fresh air, just trying to live my life, being lectured and threatened to be kicked out
the utopia for me, like in casino's who make an effort for smokers, is quite a nice balcony somewhere and me plastic beer glass, (I have been to a casino 1 time in the last year) but I did enjoy it, there was a feeling of freedom, you had to make the effort, sometimes a bit of walk, sometimes cold but usually the heaters
even more utopian would be being able to see screens, the other results and going round the grounds, food, maybe able to place a bet and get served by a pretty girl like hooters, with the buffalo prawns and steak burger or whatever
if it is more capacity they could have kids and families sections, lgbt sections, disabled, elderly, corporate, I know there will be room for all these and I don't want to detract from their experience but I feel they don't want the scum of the earth like me, to be honest the concrete cells under the stands with no windows or views, just breeze blocks is sort of what I am ok with, I don't expect a vip experience or carpet, I just want a pint and a smoke, that's it, be nice if there 38.000 in the ground all rocking even better
match days, there will be traffic problems and the toilet experience will probably always be close to mediocre, people maybe me included just don't seem to know how to behave anymore
I don't like violence but I do like a bit of hostility and edginess, I don't like cruelty but I do like having fun maybe at others expense, maybe football is where all the lost young men should go and vent their anger in the safest environment possible and somehow learn and grow and become at peace with the world, lets be honest the best fans images are the hoardes of angry, volatile men, smoke, flares, huge flags and loud hostile chants, are we really all going to turn up in dinner jackets and sharing hoere doerves with supermodels and talking corporate? I hate corporate, I worked in it but when Saturday comes, I think it's why I loved the OLD Trent End so much

Just out of interest, do you (or any other smokers) go to away games, if so is any provision made where a fan can have a beer and cig? or is it one or the other?

Is there any chance - when I attend away games - of going to the bog at half time without increasing my likelihood of contracting lung cancer 10 fold.
Just leave the fags until you’re outside the ground - sick to death of myself & my grandson running the gauntlet of smokers & feeling our way though the cigarette smoke just to have a pee.
Rant over.
As you were.
PS Chances of new ground development taking smokers into consideration? Zero - and that’s how it must be.
