Jesus gets gassed after 30 minutes. And then we have no out ball and the opposition come on to us. Its a problem.

It was extremely ropey watching that. Our goals were tremendous but let's not kid ourselves we were second best to everything. We looked knackered.
For 20 minutes in the first half we were a good team then it all fell apart and Brentford won all the balls and applied Pressure. Luckily The Serbinator and Murillo were excellent. Sels made a very good one on one save too. We had three chances, scored from two. Jesus's was brilliant. Taiwo's was classic Taiwo of old, power, Pace, wobbly miscontrol, a bobble, a slight mishit and a good goal through the goalie's legs. It was very painful to watch with some fabulous finishing. Brentford gor frustrated but don't let it fool you it was balls to the wall. We don't score first we lose that.. Having said all that, delighted that we won./. Taiwo's goal made me jump in the air fist punching. He could have saved our season that is how important that goal was. Palace are a mess. I suspect they will fight though and not down tools. We have to be up to the challenge. Hopefully not crispy from Europa. 7 points from 9. All of this has been heart attack territory. It isn't boring. Chicago: Extremely relieved.

A lot of the pressure was due to us scoring so early. We decided to sit back and try to hold firm. If we hadn’t have scored then it would have been a more open game. It wasn’t pretty, but we got the 3 points against a team who rarely lose at home

Great 3 points and doing best we can in the circumstances. There is definitely a collective amnesia which comes from winning games last season. There were plenty where we were extremely dull to watch. I've said before I apologised once in a pub in Wales when I asked them to put game on.

Scored first, excellent counter, sit in and soak up the pressure, opponent commits men forward and we capitalise and score again, thank you 3 points. Choosing to sit deeper and then defending well is a tactic and one which both Dyche and Nuno used to good effect (at times) Dyche probably has us too deep but the defending is good. I don't think we were lucky last year, we had a gameplay and executed it well for the most part. The lucky part probably was that we rarely had to use plan B as Plan A was so effective. We played better last year in the same game against Brentford (although the same result) as an example and as you'd expect as we were a better team last year.

We just couldn't retain the ball when we had it so it kept coming back.

The break for their injuries seemed to knock us out of our stride.

Quick shout out to MGW's piece of control for T's goal. He was struggling somewhat today but that moment of quality allowed him to play T in and the big guy did the rest.

Massive three points! Doesn't matter how we aquire then at the moment. Defence were superb and everyone worked their bollocks off.
Moves us on nicely to Palace at home, without Wharton and maybe Mateta? They also have a manager that they think doesn't want to be there. Big chance to draw level on points with them and drag them right into the mix. |
