I think people forget a lot of the games last season were very much like this but we had explosive pace and a 20+ striker to counter. Great 3 points and doing best we can in the circumstances.

Not seen the game, heard most on radio but seems like we played very similar to last season. Scored first, excellent counter, sit in and soak up the pressure, opponent commits men forward and we capitalise and score again, thank you 3 points.

From what I can see we had little possession and in terms of Xg (well it is Brentford) we were comfortably second best, again very much like last season.

So my question is this. Were we ever actually that good last season? Or did we just rely on scoring first and hanging on? Was there ever more to it than that and we got extremely lucky?

Team deserves credit for a solid away performance against a team that doesn't lose much at home. I don't know what people expect most of the time - last season was built on brilliant defence and aggressive fast counter attacking. We never dominated sides. I would dare say that was very similar to many games under Nuno but because it's dyche it's somehow worse.

We were under the cosh but Brentford rarely looked like scoring. I can't really fault anyone. And taiwo scored. Doubt many of us expected that to happen

Furthermore, after yesterday's results, the pressure would have been huge. They dealt with it and we have once again put daylight between us. Not many points of palace and spurs and once you get in that middle pack there is nothing much between 16th and 7th.

It was a bit of a scruffy win today. We couldn't make 2 passes in the second half. I suppose it was a bit like last season. Hard watching until Taiwo scored.
