Jesus is pretty much performing, goals-wise, as he has done his whole career. His history suggests that while he might have purple patches and droughts but that he is pretty much at the level he should be.

Kalimendo is a different story entirely, his goals to games ratio last year was phenomenal but we’ve had three managers now who don’t seem to know how to use him, or Kalimendo doesn’t suit their style, that’s not just limited to Sean Dyche.

I really rate Kalimendo from what I’ve seen of him so far but would be interested to know how he got so many goals last season, did he play in a front two?

He really reminds me of Jason Defoe but Defoe was at his best alongside a big man.

Who is Jason Defoe? He sounds like he might be to Jermaine how Gary Bull was to Steve?


Anyway I have just spent more time than is healthy looking in to your question.

Ist part of24/25 Kali played as exclusively as a lone central striker in a 343, modest results but did hit a hatrick vs St Etienne that upped his stats.

They changed manager Jan 25 and in turn changed formation and didnt seem to stick with a preferred shape but did get better results. He was often paired with a partner up top in a 352 and also he appeared on the wing and as second striker, he scored a brace playing RW vs Angers.

My conclusion would be as you suspect he may be better with someone holding the ball up. I also think Jesus may be more effective if he didn’t have the sole burden of sticking the ball in the net so there you go. 4 4 fxxxin 2 as the phrase goes.

Imagine the uproar if Sean Dyche went 4-4-2.

Weirdly, we have the players for it although difficult to know what to do with MGW in that formation. He'd probably start him up top woth Taiwo!

I actually think we do play 442 - especially without the ball… MGW has s much further forward than previously. I do actually think we could do a diamond 442 to get the best out of our squad but would need the left and right midfielders to play as 8s - I think Hudson odoi would be great but would need Dominguez to tuck in from the right to give balance. Could also try Hutchinson as the 10!

Dyche definitely needs to find a way to get the likes of Bakwa, McAtee, Kalimuendo, N'Doye (when fit) more involved. Not sure I understand how Taiwo can possibly be ahead of Kalimuendo but maybe we'll find out why at the start of January.

I think Dyche needs to make more changes in game, ran ourselves into the ground vs City and still lost. I don't think these guys should suddenly be starting but they need minutes and then we can keep the starters fresher.

Easier said than done in some cases though, hard to take MGW off for McAtee right now!

Definitely. Against Fulham you could have blamed the players, last night it was the tactics and how we adapted to the game that was all wrong.

Dyche needs to stop spouting 1000's words of rubbish prior to and after every match interview and get us out of this mess that we have self inflicted. Players need to give 100% every match, drop the "names" regardless and strip MGW of the capataincy, never leads give it to the big Serb!

Particularly frustrating given we played Everton a few weeks ago with these tactics and had pretty identical results, you'd think in that time they'd have concluded we should probably try something different for the return fixture.
