Savona looked alright aside from one horrific mistake for the goal I thought. Could be useful cover at CB too based on what we saw from Morato.

We signed a backup right back and left back and a young CB in this window, not sure it was that bad.

I think maybe its worth considering that it was pretty unlucky for Aina to get injured a week after the window closes on international duty and ruled out till the next window, you can't really plan for that kind of bad luck.

Hopefully Zinchenko comes in and looks solid next weekend and Savona starts to look solid as he settles in. Maybe get Cunha involved again if possible too.

Both Savona and Zinc aren't traditional full backs though. Tbh you don't want cover, you want competition, look at the wide positions, Bakwa already pushing for a start, McAtee has to push MGW etc.

Sorry that's just not right, Zinchenko was converted from midfield to left back. He's a midfielder who can play left back.

Yeah converted right at the start of his Man City career, he's been playing LB since 2018. According to the internet he had a year or two before that as a mid. I can change it to whole senior career if you like? Or whole career in England? 

He's a left back that started his career as a midfielder but has played LB for the majority of his career and it is also clearly his best position. Not sure I understand the issue?

He's literally played 99% of his games as a LB in the Premier League.

Why does it matter where Ukraine play him? I imagine they play him further forward as they feel he can be more influential or just had another good left back, like Scotland when they had Tierney playing LW due to Robertson.

Why does this make him a midfielder? And why does it matter, if he was good enough to start games at City/Arsenal at LB, he's surely good enough to do a job for us as a backup LB right?

He will be fine at LB as he is a LB who can invert into midfield. Was at Arsenal on Saturday and the local gooners said we had a good player on our hands- however they said that playing against a pacy physical winger he can become overwhelmed…

Some encouraging play tonight against Swansea and some individuals looking like they could slot into the first choice 11 and maybe even improve us. Thinking in particular Luiz, Zinchenko, Jesus and Bakwa. A few others hopefully will develop with a little more time.

So am I. At HT last night I was really encouraged by the talent we had available. Yes, it was a bit disjointed but I saw enough to realise we've got some really talented players waiting for their chance.

I think there was a general overreaction last night, but in particular didn’t like the amount of criticism Yates got. I thought he was excellent first half or so last season and our results were great. After he lost his place in the starting 11 the results also fell off, but I also thought when he joined the action he wasn’t as good as he’d been earlier in the season. Probably unsurprising that you lose some rhythm. So last night he plays after not featuring much and he’s getting scapegoated. He obviously doesn’t have the natural ability of the likes of Luiz and maybe needs regular game time to be at the level we need. Hopefully we can also give him the chance to play himself in. I think the exit of the league cup will cost him minutes though.
