Nuno Espirito Santo

We seem to have done this as the narrative and spin from different factions has evolved despite none of us really knowing what is going on. It was quite similar with Cooper and the personality clash was there too. Difference being Coopers results at the end made his job untenable regardless, very different situation now.

Definitely more in Nuno's camp than Edu. Man deserves better

This new manager comes in immediately tries to ‘make his mark’ and justify his position bringing ‘change’ and ‘new ideas’.

Ie throwing his weight around.

Seen it many times.

Now, no one knows what the catalyst for this situation was, or even whether this is a ‘situation’ at all; but from the outside I know that a manager who has stabilised a team, developed young players for the club to make a profit and beat PSR whilst leading us into Europe for the first time in a generation has certainly accrued far more brownie points than a new guy who I know nothing about.

Good post.

I’ve also seen it in the corporate world, and what I’ve also seen and it’s not uncommon is the management structure / reporting lines different to what you might expect to accommodate individuals. Ie a current high performing guy doesn’t want someone brought in above him so he has a reporting line straight to the big man still. It’s pragmatic. There’s a reason it’s done, to avoid this situation, and avoid the guy quitting to join a competitor.

There is a real animosity there, where Nuno is the aggressor.
EM has 2 options
1) move Edu out of Forest and get him doing more with the group.
2) sack Nuno and get Edu choice of manager

Always appreciate your insights, and they align directly to DT’s observations.

Whilst I personally wish for option 1, as I see we are on the precipice of an amazing season, it would set us up to fail.

Keeping both around, and not reconciled, would mean it is in Edu’s interest for Nuno to fail.  That dynamic would be far too destabilising for the organisation, they either work together or EM chooses 1 to back, and exits the other.

If we can sort this in the short term that's all it will be. This will be Nunos last season but it's in the clubs best interest to get the season out of him.

I wonder if you’ve just found the compromise. Edu backs off for now, transfers mostly over anyway, Nuno gets his way this season but with an understanding he leaves next summer.
Risk is a manager who isn’t committed but don’t think Nuno works like that. If such an agreement was made unlikely it would be made public.

I wonder how the meeting went yesterday. Allegedly.

Today’s press conference will be interesting, I wonder Nuno even does it, or if Forest instruct his assistant does it

Speaking of Nuno’s assistants.  As much as I’d be disappointed if Nuno leaves, I’ll be even more so his assistants leaving. They for me are real quality and just as much the reason why we have been doing so well.

My prediction, no one will be leaving and this will blow over. Marinakis knows Nuno's done/doing well and wont want to throw that away. Nuno will just need to keep his head. That's the challenging bit, but he'll do it.
