Hopefully this we’ll be consolation/distraction for palace to placate their fans and hopefully not more fuel to the fire of being in the wrong competition

I doubt it. Surely that was just a small handful of nutcases (which every club has, this one included) reacting to the Liverpool fans booing the National Anthem and any distaste for it will quickly be forgotten in what was another pretty impressive Wembley performance against one of big clubs. Palace are rapidly becoming regarded by many genuine football fans as their second favourite team, after the one they have supported from birth. There is a lot of sympathy out there for the way they have been treated and Forest would do well to recognise that if the decision tomorrow confirms the UEFA decision and not do too much gloating. Marinakis is, by comparison, not well regarded by anyone other than Forest fans. It could come back to bite.

Wow. So you know every other football fan in the country do you? Good work.

It is probably the worst post ever made on this forum.

At least I only said they were a good side. How many match attending football fans do you know with a second favourite team in the same league. I actually respect the fishing pal! Keep it coming.

Of course not! You have only to read the comments made after today’s game or read other club forums to understand it. It amuses me that people here think I am a Palace fan. I am a football fan whose local club, which I attend regularly, are in the National League. I watch the PL on TV. I admire genuine clubs whose have their heart solidly in their local area and are directed by people who are also fans. They are becoming increasingly scarce. I particularly don’t like Man City, Chelsea and more recently Newcastle and Bournemouth who have sold their souls to the money Gods. I was a big fan of Forest back in the Clough days. A genuine club run by passionate people who were part of the city. I felt for Forest during the wilderness years but am troubled by the way success has been purchased, rather than earned. This isn’t the way our football future ought to be. I don’t think Clough would approve of the way the game is now and would be ashamed to see his beloved Forest joining in. I also believe in fairness in sport, so dislike diving and cheating just to gain an advantage just as much as I think the way UEFA have behaved over this isn’t fair. Every fair minded fan, even those from Forest, understand that. They want to win because they played well. We won’t turn back the tide of foreign investors trying to make money out of English football but we can stop the scourge of multi club ownership further diluting local involvement. Hopefully the appointment of the regulator will do this, alongside raising the bar much higher on who meets the “ fit and proper person” requirements to avoid any possibility of overseas rogues sportswashing wealth created from dubious sources. Maybe even retrospectively. Their appointment looks like an interesting and potentially important one. |
