The club now finds itself in a 'damned if you do, damned if you dont' situation.

Should we get into Europe next season, does the club put back starting work on the new stand and keep as many fans inside the stadium as they can or do they think longer term, start work ASAP and consider the longer term prospects of having 42/45,000 in the ground every other week, along with more corporate events and concerts, other sporting events etc? Tough call either way!

Completely agree. 

I’m guessing that any actual development work would start once a season ends, so assuming that it’s now not going to start until the Summer of 2026 at the earliest, there’s no reason why we couldn’t book in three or four major events before then. 

Spurs are hosting the boxing on Saturday during the season so obviously things can be done to protect the pitch, there just needs to be a will on the Club’s part to do it.

Hasnt the Spurs stadium got a second pitch that rolls out over the main pitch, for things like American football etc? Im sure I saw that during the initial proposals. Unless that got put off due to costs or inability to do such a thing?

At this rate, I wont be around anymore to see the new shiny stand once erected. But, for next season at least, we need as many of our fans inside the WFCG to intimidate the Europeans, should we of course, qualify.

Spurs stadium is much more than a football stadium. Yes it has artificial pitch under then real one, it also has a go-cart track!! I think they host about 19-23 1st team matches a season and close to 2 other events. I read due to the timing of the build, when interest rates were low, they borrowed about the same as Everton have for their new stadium, but will end up playing 15x 20x less interest.
They also had the luxury of playing a season away at Wembley.

Hadn’t realised that. 

I see that Villa Park has four events on but they all take place during the close season so perhaps that is the way to go then.

I know those of us who would prefer a new modern stadium away from the City Ground have lost the argument but I can’t help but feel spending two more years at the City Ground whilst it was built would be a lot less complicated and provide with a more profitable capacity

Regarding whether we needed a sale this summer, I read a while back that UEFA squad cost rules run on a calendar year basis, so to enter those accounts for 2025 we would need the sale now, not next summer.

Also they penalize apparent swap deals eg Anderson and Vlach, eg you can only recognize the value of Vlach’s book value, not whatever the transfer fee was, something like that.

I’d look it up but busy, maybe at the weekend!

Are we holding out for £10m again for a front of shirt sponsor? I wonder if the European competition we will be in would affect those negotiations. The sooner we get Europa league confirmed the better!

I'm sure we have still got the same front of shirt sponsor as we had last year. Then next year we will need a new one with the restrictions around gambling companies being introduced.
