70m on only 5 signings so far, They are definitely going to hit £100m+
Let's hope they don't take a West Ham target or the Talksport mob will be on their case.
They're going to have to cover their promotion bonuses in their PSR calc but probably wont be carrying over the big championship losses that we had to when we were calculating our PSR.
Well played to them that they're trying to have a bit of a go though. Fail to spend and relegation is a definite certainty. They could've easily chosen to not spend and take the easy option as their neighbours Norwich did/do.
The massive difference between Ipswich and Forests business here will be the wages these signings are on. All the above are under 25yrs most 21-22. None will be on anything like what we paid Lingard, Kouyate, Navas, Henderson, Aurier, Felipe etc etc. They can afford quite a few big fees without even coming close to PSR risk.
The question though, is a load of inexperienced kids however talented going to be enough for them to survive?
It didn't work for Burnley!
It should be noted that as Ipswich went up back to back years they'll have been under the League one tight finance rules on wages so will likely have capacity to spend a lot more than we did as I imagine they didn't make massive losses (haven't actually checked that)
Will they have L1 FFP caps in place?
Yep, for that first year's accounts but the L1 rules are way more restrictive than the championship so I doubt they made an impactful loss. Plus then they'll have taken a low wage bill into the championship so will likely have not made a big loss.
You're right though they'll have an even lower total allowable loss than we did in year 1 in the prem.
