I'd take that here and now but you can guarantee I'd be whinging that we should be doing better!

This debate around whether we had a good or bad season seems to have spread to the finance thread too.

Its interesting if you go back to this time last year the vast majority on here thought we could finish 10th to 14th. Consensus again was that should Cooper at the time fail to show an improvement then it would be hugely disappointing. Yet we finished a place lower and with a lower number of points even if you add 4 back in and suddenly everyone thinks we did OK? Come on now, make your minds up!

Was trying to make a relatively balanced point above that both managers this season have ultimately underachieved whether we competed better in games or not. Im looking at hard facts not conjecture of whether crap refs, Afcon etc made a difference.
Conjecture is also whether Cooper could have improved and kept us up. No idea, but his relationship with EM was toxic anyway so best we moved on. Nuno did OK in difficult circumstances but IMO no better than OK. The coming season I reckon EM does want better than OK.

I am not a Nuno fan but I reckon that is fair.

Ie there are certain games you would expect to lose top 10 away and some to win bottom 10 at home but sometimes the fixtures can be hard like the start of last season 5 of the top teams away from home in a row

There is another factor that hasnt been taken into consideration when you consider the hard facts of last season and that is the individual errors that cost us points. Not just the poor back passes or the wayward goalkeeping that conceded goals but the number of misses we had at the other end. Chris Wood for example missed a number of clear cut chances towards the end of the season that could have got us more points on the board had they have gone in. MGW, CHO, Elanga, Origi all had chances to put games to bed but didnt find the onion bag. These are elements of our game that cannot be put down to Nuno (or Cooper), nor dodgy decisions or foreign competitions, but down to individuals not doing their job on the pitch.

I must admit I have been very impressed with our style of play. It's night and day from Cooper days

The thing I liked was that Nuno got a booking early on for his passion and commitment let’s all get right behind him

We only had 35% possession according to flashscores. It felt like more, we seem to have more control of the match under Nuno’s evolution. Of course Cooper tried to make that transition, but Nuno has taken the baton to good effect.

Even in the second half we only had 27% possession apparently but apart from a couple of times I didnt feel like they posed a real goal threat. We had 11 shots to their one, and 4 on target to their none in the second half with 27% possession!

Easier set of fixtures lately, but it’s encouraging. And maybe a couple of important players still to arrive. Get that quick striker in for those second half breakaways and the threat in behind.

I don’t want to jinx it but I’ve never felt we are in a relegation fight, I’m looking up the table.

A pet hate of mine is pointless passes, sideways and backwards, it makes me want to turn off. It’s been refreshing how Forest have tried to do stuff when they get the ball, under Cooper by necessity on the counter attack from a ‘low block’ or Nuno even with trying to control matches more, we seem to act with more intent than most sides in possession. There are probably some stats or clever analysis, but it feels like that.
