An attempt by the Premier League to close a loophole that lets clubs use one-off profits from the sale of hotels, training grounds or other tangible assets in their financial fair play submissions has failed.

The league made the proposal at its annual general meeting in Harrogate, North Yorkshire on Thursday but only 11 of the 20 clubs backed it, significantly short of the two-third majority required for a change in English top flight’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

The English Football League stopped its clubs from using artificial windfall profits on property sales in 2021, after half a dozen clubs had sold their stadiums or training grounds to themselves in order to avoid breaching the PSR limit on permitted losses.

So with that said, Forest should buy the freehold off the council. The. Marinakis can should buy the city ground for £50m all for helping with PSR. And if this can be done asap it means not selling Murillo lol

Aston Villa rumoured to be considering legal action against the Premier League regarding PSR rules.

Just been reading that Villa are thinking about taking the Premier League to court for being "Anti-competitive" and generally holding back anyone not in the big 6 clubs in the league which to be honest is a fair point. I think at some point the shite will really hit the fan and several clubs will get f**ked off and join together and start a class action lawsuit against the Premier League (well one can only hope anyway). It definitely needs a bloody full reset to make it fair for everyone from bottom to top.

Yet the PL clubs have only just voted to retain the current rules for this season. Even more annoyingly Forest seem to consistently vote with the big clubs on most issues which I can’t understand.

Not sure you can have a class action against a democratic process anyway. There are 20 clubs and they all have a vote how the league is conducted.

Does it need everyone accepting it or can it be a majority for rules to be retained??.  I would say if its the majority then it is the minority that will hopefully start the ball rolling against the PL.

I no legal expert but if something is regularly going against you and others I would of thought any court action can happen.

The trouble is the PL keep moving the goalposts and now with Man City starting legal action you can just see them 115 charges will disappear and the so called smaller clubs like us, Leicester and I'm sure we'll see soon others will continue not to be competitive in this league because of the rules.
