Appeal For PSR Breach

Do you trust the PL not to move the goalposts? Two points could become 10 points for those who reoffend.

We shouldn't play with fire, we need to get our house in order to ensure this never happens again.

I asked before- tell me how.
It’s an easy sound bite but much harder to put into place.
The only solutions I can think of are either
1. to sell our playing assets for knock down prices in June;
2. to sell physical assets in June (eg EM buys the training ground?); or
3. Take a points hit.

My preference would be 2,3,1 in that order.

The notion that the premier league will change the penalty for second offenders is almost impossible; we now have precedent from Everton that it’s reduced for overlapping periods. Not to mention the mayhem that might ensue next season if there are 10 teams involved- it will make the league a mockery. Imagine the deductions and subsequent appeals going on all season.

No it’s more likely they will introduce set tariffs or even an amnesty.
I thought we were opening a can of worms but if there are 2,3,4…10 clubs in breach then the whole league becomes a shit show and sky & co will not be happy- let alone the millions of fans adding their discontent.

Careful what you wish for Mr Masters!

The 20 clubs voted for the rules, if half of them don’t like it then they shouldn’t have agreed to begin with.

If Forest have to sell off players or assets to comply the simple answer is we should have managed money better, we aren’t going to get sympathy on that.

One solution could be clubs agree an amendment for the coming season that there are no point deductions seeing as rules are changing but losses carry over to the new criteria. Think thats unlikely though, most clubs will find a way to come in on budget.

I hope that none of the clubs in risk sell any players and we finish up with about 10 clubs having breaches and they have to arrange 10 independent panels to deal with the first round of sanctions and then another 10 independent panels to deal with the appeals and make the Premier League look like the complete joke that it is.

Personally I doubt if there's going to be 10 clubs in breach.

I don’t have a problem selling off the training ground or whatever to EM.
What I do have a problem is having to sell off our players before we are comfortably mid table and stable.

We are being punished because the rules are loaded against new entrants into the league, and for that, sympathy is deserved; I await with interest what plan Ipswich have.

Conversely, this continual diatribe of the club only has itself to blame for all those signings is really starting to grate now. No club has a 100% success rate and 0% of clubs have been in Forest’s position before, being promoted but with only half a dozen senior players of note to start the next season.

Given the expected malaise next season I still think given a choice we should take a deduction rather than sell off the Crown Jewels.

Given that the regulator is coming now whatever, the PL’s plan to demonstrate self-governance has failed and it has no reason for further sacrificial lambs.
I can therefore easily see a radical back-tracking on points deductions next season under pressure from the broadcasters and the phrase it being for the ‘integrity of the competition’ being oft quoted.

Agree with you.

This argument doesn’t hold water.
We needed a considerable number but definitely didn’t need 29 new players last season, you are fooling yourself if you think we did. We didnt spend wisely enough and its where our problems came from

It does hold water.

The memory is a little hazy cos it was crazy times but I'm pretty sure it was 22 players in the summer window.....

1 of those can be considered a player we could've done without but worth a gamble (Lingard),
1 was DOA (Omar Richards).
I'm sure I recall Sky & Talkshite including a 16 year old kid that we bought for the academy (can't remember who it was tho). I guess this might be where you get your 29 players from but 30 is still the number that's thrown around by everyone cos ya know, shit sticks.
a few were U21 & not counted as squad members

We then bought a further 7 players & loaned 1 (Navas) in January due to barely being able to field a full team (remember how many players we had injured that season??!!)

So not really THAT extravagant considering the situation we were in.

Now isnt the time, need to focus on the football but there needs to be a proper inquest in the summer how we got into the current situation and make sure it isn’t repeated.

For reasons Im not going to go into now I don’t agree with your argument. However ask yourself what could Forest have done better re recruitment particularly in summer 22 to not end up in the mess they did.

Everton have withdrawn their appeal against the 2 point deduction.

Suppose it saves some money they might not have if the takeover collapses…

No doubt they were waiting to see if there was anything substantial in our appeal they could draw upon.
