Considering we ha e been done for one year of the 3 year punishment, the last year, Everton have failed that year too now, so they will be done again for sure, the other 2 years are now irrelevant.

We could have saved a bit more money and not hired DeMarco from all the good he did us.
It was 6 points with 2 taken off. 2 of the 6 mitigating factors were accepted by the Premier League during the commission the other 4 were dismissed.
The prem wanted 8 as a starting point to which the commission disagreed and gave us 6.

No it was 6 with 2 reduced.
They came down from 8 to 6 before mitigations which you could attribute to DeMarco.

Yes I agree, this report does not make great reading for them. Particularly seeing as how we have used their experience to at least save ourselves two points

3 points was fair- it was the amount of points that Brennan Johnson was here for (illegally) from their reasoning( they accepted he was going to be sold).
The suspended sentence would have washed too as it is a three year period and we could be judged over the next two years on our overall business model.
I do however worry about next year - the predicted loss puts us right on the margin again - we need not to make a loss this year.
The efl losses are a moot point too. Other clubs have got away with murder with covid allowable losses and the promotion bonus could put us in hot water with the efl if we go down.

Ok was quoting from the BBC article which is clearly wrong
“ Forest, who hired leading sports lawyer Nick de Marco to defend them, based their case around six points of mitigation but all six were disputed by the Premier League.”

The promotion bonuses that the EFL allowed originally?

That's the bit that's most likely to be won if we appealed.

I think we should accept and move on. Let the players do the talking in the next 9 games now. Let football takeover again for us. We can bridge a 1 point gap between us and Luton.
Focus on that for me now.

Ultimately if we hadn’t made such a dogs arse of the season on the pitch we would all be laughing and congratulating EM. He knew what he was doing, we were always at a competitive disadvantage so did everything possible to ensure we were competitive in the PL, if that meant bending the rules so be it.
That combined with further investment over the summer should have made us comfortably mid table and a 4 point deduction of little to no consequence. No I don’t want to hear about referees and AFCON. As MR says we have 9 games for our under achieving squad to put things right. i hope they have the spine to do it.

This is a great thread and makes some good points: https://x.com/brianhboyle/status/1769819...83li9aOCRw
We can all get pissed off with the club for its decisions but the final point here was that the club took a calculated risk on the sale of Johnson- could they get more money or sell under pressure of the loss. What is not great here is there was no clarity from the premier league at this stage and no precedent to judge on. We wanted best value and got best value. This has resulted in a four point deduction. If we manage to stay up we benefit from the booked profit of 48m. The warning for other clubs is stark and I know there are plenty of clubs at major risk this year. Newcastle, Villa, Chelsea(finally), Palace, Bournemouth even West Ham and Burnley . Covid losses falling off the calculations are catastrophic.
This will in turn make the first half of the transfer window very interesting. Many clubs will be looking to offload homegrown players to balance the books and before the end of the season but with so many struggling the ir will be no one to sell to. This will hamper most and ironically can see Man City- Man Utd (with their billions of debt)Arsenal and o Liverpool really benefitting. Closed shop? Well done to Brighton though!
Good luck to getting a fair price for Murillo if we need to.
