The demand isn't there.

Commercially it makes no sense.

Simon Forster brings a wealth of leadership experience in the retail industry. Joining Selfridges, the renowned luxury department store, in 2012, Simon played an instrumental role in developing its global reputation, with the store being voted the World's Best Department Store four times by the IGDS (Intercontinental Group of Department Stores).

In 2018, Simon's outstanding contributions led to his appointment as CEO of Selfridges, overseeing 5000 team members and managing a turnover of £2 billion, while providing strategic and creative direction.

Under his leadership, Selfridges transformed into a true omnichannel business, with significant digital sales growth during his tenure as Customer Director.

Prior to his role at Selfridges, Simon held significant positions within the retail sector, including serving as Digital Director for Debenhams and undertaking various buying roles across the industry.

Simon currently holds several Chair and Non-Executive roles within the global retail industry. His diverse expertise and extensive network make him an invaluable addition to Nottingham Forest.

Speaking of his appointment, Simon Forster said: "I am thrilled to be part of the Nottingham Forest team and look forward to leveraging my experience in the retail sector to help build the retail operation into a world-class Premier League business."

Simon's appointment underscores Nottingham Forest's commitment to strategic growth and innovation, as the club continues its journey towards excellence both on and off the field.

Just to add some balance.

What are you adding 'balance' to? I was just posting an article of interest. It wasn't blowing smoke up EM's ass or cheerleading him for anything, it's just what's on the official site.

How do you know the demand isn't there? Every time I've been to Alchemilla - an equivalent experience in a similar part of the city - in the last couple of years it's been totally full.

Criticise the club when they do something obviously wrong, but your last couple of posts just seem like nitpicking to criticise when it might not be warranted.

I didn't say you were blowing smoke, the article dresses him up as the second coming, I was just adding some light as to his background, nothing more sinister than that.

How many fine dining restaurants have survived in the Nottingham market for more than five years? How many have made actual good money from it?

Alchemilla is now only open for booking Wednesday to Friday, 5 to 7.30 and Saturdays, noon until 1:30 and 6-8.

Its not sustainable mate given their overheads and running costs.

Its a market I know extremely well so I'm not nitpicking, I'm talking with a high degree of authority on the subject matter.

Sometimes something is destined to not be successful no matter the good intentions.

The hotel might make decent money but the restaurant / fine dining approach will just drain cash.

Good move if coming in as CEO, club needs leadership at the top plus a fall guy when it goes tits up!

The club needs to generate income from streams other than match days and TV. Someone to sell shirts globally seems like a good idea.

Makes a lot of sense to me. Harts has an excellent reputation if a bit dated now. However Im not talking about just as a restaurant, its the conference and event facility it has, have used it many times for work.

The club has nothing suitable itself if they want to put on an event such as last week’s race and equality conference. Harts isnt that big but can put on small high quality events under the club name.
Needs some updating definitely but why not have an option the club can use within the city? Doesn’t have to be at the ground.
Think its a clever move myself, we lose far too much money compared to almost every other Premier League club in commercial revenues.
