Being in the PL and losing 1-2 to Arsenal is hardly a crime is it.

Not long go we were losing 1-2 against Barnsley in front of 16,000 fans.

Get a grip.

It isn’t inconceivable that next season we will be losing 2-1 at home to the likes of Barnsley again. The difference likely being that it will be 25,000 fans instead.

I hope its only a confidence thing with Hudson-Odi because everytime we make a break he seems to stop in the last third of the opponents half and see what happening and then move inside. That usually breaks down. A few time the move should have been to pass to the runner on his left.

It’s a natural habit that he’s developed and won’t be coached out of him now at his age.

We played a top team tonight but our own fault from silly mistakes. It was a clear foul on Williams but that ref couldn’t wait to blow for them and let everything go against us. Montiel should have stayed with Jesus and Omad should have been quicker to close him after or block the goal. However it is an OG with turner getting half megged and deflecting in.

I agree it was Turners best match so far - he was pretty solid but Matilda then. Montiel for the second really pissed me off - hoof the f****r! Also gibbs white was a bit slow to Saka.

Taiwo - good goal and unlucky not to equalise and Arsenal staff S**t themselves after we scored.

Arsenal were a bit toothless until our gifts. We won’t go down by losing to Arsenal. It the Brentford result that really pissed me off.

Do you think he intended to give it to the opposition?

We constantly hoofed, or cleared, the ball first half to the opposition and promptly conceded possession each time. Second half we were clearly trying to use the ball better and be a bit more deliberate in our passing and this was a prime example of it.

I know Montiel gave the ball away which led to Arsenals second goal but he was good last night.

He pretty much had Martinelli in his pocket all night and he also headed away most of what got chucked into our box (I appreciate that sort of thing goes unnoticed) but if anyone watches the game back you will see it.

He also got another assist, I make that 4 now second only to Elanga I believe although I haven't checked that.

Darren Fletcher on commentary had him down for MOTM before the second goal.

People will jump on him and slag him off but I actually felt for the bloke because up until the second goal and even after it he was excellent.

Made a point of watching Montiel last night. Yes thought he was good for the most part too, tracked Martinelli well as you said. He is pretty small which counts against him but still won a good number of headers. (Just reread your post -yes I did notice it!)
The goals, thought he was asleep for the first as was the rest of the defence. 2nd goal did come directly from his mistake but in his defence he was trying to set up a quick break.
He also did a superb overlapping run first half when Wood, I think, should have fed him through on goal. Got an assist, more of a hopeful header across but at least he was up there trying to make something happen unlike some (cough..Hudson Odoi…cough).

So to sum up he was good against Newcastle Man U and Arsenal. Poor against Blackpool Brentford and Brizzle. What does that tell you? Only gets up for big games? Doesn’t like teams beginning with B?
Wish he could find some consistency.
Overall if we do get relegated and I am increasingly worried, its the individual mistakes and soft goals that will do it.

Should probably bench him for Bournemouth then...

Forever grateful for our ownership! I just wish it wasn’t quite so chaotic and we’d stuck to the FFP rules like most other clubs did! I’d hate for a points deduction because of bad maths to send us down and undo all the good he’s done for us.

I’d hate to see MGW, Murillo Taiwo etc to be sold off :(

As if he will sell up because people point out the club, in relation to transfers, has been a basket case.

I'm guessing, as a top business man he is looking to improve it, and not follow some of you, with your throwing of toys out the pram, just because someone had an opinion.

I'd love to hear the explanation for stopping the gane fir Saka injury but not Montiel.

I'm not one for 'ref is biased' nonsense but that was dodgy.
