I know that some like to talk down our squad for some reason but I think what EM is asking for is reasonable when you look at the money spent and the squad we have assembled (waits for someone to slag the squad off).

So the question is can Steve deliver on what EM is demanding?

Do you also think it reasonable that Fulham, Bournemouth, Brentford, West Ham, Palace, Wolves, Everton, Chelsea (currently 10th) should be able to finish top 10 based on what they have spent and the squad's they have assembled?

Our argument is not that our team is bad necessarily (although we are currently starting Chris Wood up top...). The argument is that other teams have spent similar amounts and built similarly high level teams on the base of already strong teams/academies. Basically we started behind and all we've done is play catch up but we're still behind.

I think its reasonable to expect us to finish above Luton, Everton, Sheff U and Burnley, that's it. You could make argument for Wolves/Fulham too. I think I'd put us and Bournemouth on par on paper.

To get top 10 we have to finish above West Ham, Chelsea, Palace, Brighton maybe, is that realistic?

No it isn’t realistic. Where are the goals coming from to take us past those teams.

The answer to that ^^ is a new striker signing in January and the return of Taiwo.

Interesting that Steve himself in his interview talked about the need to progress on last season and to keep progressing.

I look at it like this, I would like a Porsche, I’ve actually got an Aygo, does it’s job, gets me from a to b but it’s never going to be anything but an Aygo.
Our squad I’d not a top 10 squad, yes a lot of money has been spent but half the team seems to be made of biscuits. We can’t rely on Tiawo, we’ve got the AFCON coming up, our main striker is CW who for all his efforts is obviously not the answer.
That’s not playing down the squad, it’s just being pragmatic.
SC has got one of the hardest jobs, a fickle fan base who either want to back him or sack him depending which way the wind blows. Last year we stayed up because we all worked as a team, the players, the hierarchy and the fans. We need to keep backing him as vocally as we can, it’s proved over the last 2 seasons what that can achieve.
We will get the top 10 finish, not this season though and only if we stop sniping at the manager and back him as he deserves. SC will be the manager of a team in Europe in the next few years, I’m just praying we have the guts to back him so it can be us.

He had it out with him in the office on losing his place and cooper said he isn't good enough for the standard and it got very heated.

Joe might outlive cooper though but it goes back to the stupidity of the volume of summer signings and lack of stability.

I always find it a frustrating quirk of football that players can play poorly or just not be up to this level (as with Worrall). Yet the manager eventually carries the cost and the player can just sit on his long contract. Why don't players get sacked too? Managers and players should have the same type of contracts.

On a more serious note, if Steve was to go (hope not) then I would have no problem with Lopetegui coming in.

Ha! Croyden is a proper toilet, on top of which if I sold my house I could probably afford a garden shed in that part of the world, no thanks.

As for Lopetegui, Im not stupid, were he to come and  start giving us winning football, particularly better football, the fans will be on his side in no time at all.

His history says that isn’t his game and we will continue in low block grind out a result mode which Cooper is being criticised for now. Not sure what that achieves.

Some may not care but a manager who behaves like a spoiled man-child complaining at every decision and getting his players to dive and cheat is not what I want to see here.

That's a shame SM. That tonight was not good, but think you might be right with Cooper. I hope that is not the last time we see him walk out at the city ground.
