EM needs to get real
Brentford. Finished 13th and then 9th last season.
So it’s not impossible and they have spent no where near as much as Forest and had been out of the premier league far more than 23 years!
Just not a fair comparison of where Brentford were when they got promoted and where we were. Plus to add to that they had a future England international striker to call on for most of those two years, pretty critical for a newly promoted team, as we've shown when we have Taiwo compared to without Taiwo.

Not of that matters.
If EM wants a top 10 finish then so be it.
What we want is irrelevant.

There are four points between Chelsea in 10th and Bournemouth in 16th. OK Chelsea may be under-achieving but swap them for say, West Ham who are four points ahead of them. Outside the top maybe seven or eight teams there really isn't much to separate the others. Personally I don't think top 10 is unrealistic.

I know that some like to talk down our squad for some reason but I think what EM is asking for is reasonable when you look at the money spent and the squad we have assembled (waits for someone to slag the squad off).
So the question is can Steve deliver on what EM is demanding?

Do you also think it reasonable that Fulham, Bournemouth, Brentford, West Ham, Palace, Wolves, Everton, Chelsea (currently 10th) should be able to finish top 10 based on what they have spent and the squad's they have assembled?
Our argument is not that our team is bad necessarily (although we are currently starting Chris Wood up top...). The argument is that other teams have spent similar amounts and built similarly high level teams on the base of already strong teams/academies. Basically we started behind and all we've done is play catch up but we're still behind.
I think its reasonable to expect us to finish above Luton, Everton, Sheff U and Burnley, that's it. You could make argument for Wolves/Fulham too. I think I'd put us and Bournemouth on par on paper.
To get top 10 we have to finish above West Ham, Chelsea, Palace, Brighton maybe, is that realistic?

There is a subtle difference between targeting (that’s reasonable) to demanding.
If he is demanding a top 10 finish Im not sure anyone will deliver it.
Not going to slag the squad off but you can’t convince me that any side with forward options of only Wood and Origi will finish top 10 no matter how good the rest of the team is.

Where have teams ended when wood has been first choice in the last 4 seasons? Newcastle - when playing they rose from relegation to about where we were. Before that Burnley narrowly missed relegation. No us when he is older in about the same position. Not slagging wood off but without a good number 9 as Taiwo has evolved to then we will inevitably be struggling for top half.

"You'll have to drag me out of this place" - #nffc boss Steve Cooper reacts to speculation about his position
“I really like being the manager when things seem to be going well here. But I want to be the manager even more when it’s on the back of a negative result, because I think that’s what this club deserves - a manager who cares as much as I do." #nffc
