Olympiakos & Nottingham Forest owner Evanglos Marinakis is reportedly interested in investing in portuguese Primera Liga side Rio Ave according to Jornal de Noticias

What ever happened to his prospective purchase of Monza? Seemed to be a lot of talk about it and then nothing.

That got very complicated once the owner snuffed it.

It would make a nice passport portal and somewhere to blood young South Americans into European football before switching to the premier league ;-)

We’ve done a few transfers to and from Rio Ave in the past? Can’t remember exactly who.
I also thought they were something of a feeder team for Benfica themselves. I know Ribeiro was one who went there before coming here.
Don’t know if its EM who has a pre existing link or is it simply an agent/ Mendes thing.

I think if Rio Ave can get the Brazilian/South American talent over at a young age then with EM being an investor there then that would put us at the front of the queue when they decide to move on.

Finally he will invest 20.5M not 10M like I said before and now has 80% of the shares.

Look forward to us signing costinha in Jan then. And hopefully us sending some youngsters on loan

It is a very wise move by EM.

Portugal is the perfect place for young South Americans to further themselves and then NFFC will get the pick of the crop. Good future planning by EM.

I think that is the plan and it's a good one in theory.
