May 2024 Where Will We Finish?

10th - we’re going to be good.

Then we’ll strengthen bigger next season when we’re sure we won’t go down and push for 7ths

I would say looking at other teams stats, players stats and historical performance, how they finish a season etc it will be around 16th to 14th. That is based on coops also looking to change the team mentality from defend low block to his football purely vision he talks about. Also massive dependent on Taiwo staying fit. A lot going on this season and to bring together. Think the benefits will be more on show next season.

Yep, as much as I'm of the opinion that we look a better sode without Brennan, thats on the proviso that Taiwo stays fit. Lose both if them and there's problems.

The question is how would we cope if Taiwo is injured and without Johnson’s goals?

Those two scored 18 out of our 38 goals last season, a huge contribution.
Easy to say others can step up, look at the facts
Wood’s best ever season was 5 years ago with 14. He averaged around 10 when he played for Burnley.
Origi’s best ever season was 7 years ago with 7.
Think we would struggle big time. That is of course worse case scenario and lets not think about it too much, Im sure EM would act in January if we were really stuck.

I think Origi's stats are deceiving he's an excellent player.

Everyone needs to chip have goals in Sangare/danilo/yates/santos/Dominguez/Mangala those 6 should have 10-12 between them this season . nuno got 6 last year need out CB’s getting a couple from set peices didnt get many last year . CHO and Elanga should be able to get Brennan’s Goal contributions between them .
MGW’s numbers should be higher .
With a bit more control in CM which we should have hopefully we Will create more .

And therein I fear lies our problem. Absolutely everything has relied on Brennan so far for us in the prem. We play so deep those players are never in the box to finish the chance. We've been reliant on Brennan's pace and ability to finish. I just hope Cooper has thought long and hard about his plan B now Brennan has gone. Simply dropping CHO or Elanga into Brennan's role isn't going to cut it imo. Im sure Sanagre will allow a change.

Not unreasonable to expect Elanga and CHO to add some goals though. Plus last season we didn't have Taiwo the whole year, what if he plays 90% of games instead of 50%. Would massively increase our goals if anything. MGW needs to add to his goal tally though.

I’m going 14th. If everyone stays fit could be higher. Without our injury problems last year we would’ve easily been mid table, I’m not saying we’re not going to get injuries this year, I’m guessing EM identified it as a problem and has taken steps to reduce them this season.

I think we will need to be patient with cho. In fact, I reckon we'll see more of origi than cho (at least in the first few months and he can deployed anywhere across the front three.
