So who is buying this dead wood then? None of them will go to the Premier League. If we don’t want them neither do others.
Championship teams might take them off our hands but they aren’t paying top dollar. Then you have to find a club willing to match our wages which again is unlikely unless we either pay up the contract or offset the existing contract agains a transfer fee.

The downside of the three newly promoted teams not seeming to be well off, there's no equivalent of us to panic buy our rejects!

I wonder whether any Saudi teams would fancy Shelvey, surely Dennis would be of interest to them? Not sure any of the others are high profile enough.

Dennis will have a decent value but probably not what we paid. Strikers are always in demand but doubt there is anyone who has made him their top target. Which means clubs will sit and wait knowing we want to sell.
Surridge think we could actually make a small profit on, someone like Cov might take him but agoan wages may be a problem.
OBrien probably to Leeds or similar at something of a loss
Freuler, back to Italy possibly but there is very little money spent there on transfers.
The rest just best moving them on asap.

Shelvey? Saudi is possibly the best shout. Cant see anyone else lining up to pay £90k per week, £4.5m a year just in wages never mind recouping our £5m.

If we make £15m back on fees and move some off the wage bill we will have done very well.

Some were well worth it JL. Watch UEFA tv right now and you will see that we have a player that will one day go for really silly money. If said person could take a penalty half as well as he seems to think he can then he would be worth more still but thats another debate!

Point is where we were last summer we paid out a lot of money on potential to be good enough. Some paid off some didnt but on the whole our success rate was Ok. The shocking truth is that for a promoted club to compete it needs to spend £100m plus, the entirety of its PL windfall and thats why we are so close on FFP. The alternative was do a Norwich and spend peanuts, clear the debt and get relegated. Not sure its doing them too well.

The only bit that annoys me with hindsight is the January panic buys of Wood and Shelvey. If we hadn’t spunked £30m on the pair of them we wouldn’t even be having the discussion on cashing in on Brennan.

No way of knowing as we can't see the accounts from this year until February next year. I've not heard anything, I'd guess somewhere in the region of 50-100m.

But we found out last year that spending £10m doesn’t necessarily buy you a Premier League standard player, more like £15-20m and more than that for a forward.

So we want a GK, LB, CB, CM, WF, CF. It adds up.

Can be done if used wisely though and I hope we get a few decent loans.
