Assuming we don’t have any big sales. What do people think the maximum we will spend this window. To stay within premier league restraints I would assume quite a bit less than last summer. If that is the case Che Adams might be quite a good option has the second striker. Especially if Henderson going to cost between £20-£30 million.

We are way off FFP limits.

Back of piece of paper calcs.

You are allowed 105m losses over a rolling 3 yr period.

All transfer fees are amortised for FFP purposes.

22/23 season we would have had income of circa 160m (TV income was 120m)

Amortised transfer fees were roughly 180m / 3 yrs (players had varying lengths on contract but just taken an average) = 60m

Wages I would estimate to be between 80-100m

Therefore we wouldn’t have made much loss if any last season.

23/24
Income should increase, due to increased ticket prices, likelihood of a sponsor and hopefully a better league position.
Let’s assume income increases to 180m.

We will have the amortised transfer cost of 60m to carry forward, plus this windows amortised costs.
Let’s say we spend another 100m over an average 3 yr contract.

That would be a total of 93m in amortised transfer fees (60m + 33m).

Let’s assume wages are around 100m.

That’s a total expenditure of 193m, which in my calcs would be a 13m loss.

We are allowed 105m over a rolling 3 yrs, so as you can see we are nowhere near having any FFP concerns.

I think we'll spend quite heavily this summer. It wouldn't surprise me if we 'commit' (ie a fair few deals like MGW with significant uplifts on success) to about £200M worth of fees. I think we'll manage to recoup a decent chunk and I think most outlays will be on relatively young lads on long contracts with future selling upside if things go wrong. I'd put Henderson in that category as he's a keeper and only 26ish, regular football could see him valued a lot higher than the rumored £20M we're going to pay. Same with Lodi if we get him.

Our amortisation looks something like this, £43m of the £105m used last year and about £35m will carry over into this year. So thats £78m of the £105m losses if we sign nobody this year. But if we can get 10m each for Freuler, Dennis and O'brien, we'll have more than enough room for another £150m+ spend even without tv revenue

Basically like you say we are miles from any FFP restrictions and our squad atm can spend £200m twice before we even get slightly close in year three (without player sales).

So can they spend 60mil on a DM?
If a 60mil DM would come to Forest.

Basically we can spend ~150m in both windows without getting in trouble, so yes! I'm sure theres a Palhinha / Bruno G / Onana level CDM out there at a smaller club that we could splash some cash on.

Surely MGW is 25? Not 35? Though the 5 mil for staying up how does that get amortised

25m / 5 = 5m cost this years accounts.
5m add on clause activated at end of year.

20m cost remaining + 5m bonus / 4 yrs left on contract = 6.25m in next years accounts

FFP is hitting us hard. Through transfer fees and wages we have spent nearly 2 years worth of TV money. Villa and Brentford do want Brennan but are unlikely to pay the asking price but that would help FFP.

Really hard getting rid of players, like Steve Cook when they are on 45k. They would also like to get rid of Shelvy and Wood. Close on to £190k being spent on those 2 wastes of money a week.

In other news, have been told they have sorted a front of shirt sponsor, guessing will be announced soon.

Thanks for saying it like it is Widdow, been suspecting this for a while but everyone else seems to say TV money and amortisation solves everything.

I get we have spent around 190m in transfer fees, and the wage bill is prob around 100m
However the fees are amortised for FFP purposes. The current amortised transfer fees are around 50m per year in the accounts.
Therefore I doubt we will post a loss for last seasons accounts based on income of at least 150m (TV income was 120m).
So yes we have spent a lot but don’t think we are anywhere near close to breaching FFP.
We are allowed to lose 105M over a rolling 3 yr period.
As I say there is no way we made a loss (or a significant loss) last season based on the above.
