What Does Remo Freuler Actually Do?

Genuinely what do you mean no other options Pap? Shelvey? Gibbs White? They both make runs and find space. Lodi and Aurier both get forward.
Cant blame Colback thats not his game if you are going to play both.
Just want to see RF look up and play a forward pass occasionally. All he ever does on the rare occasions he gets the ball is to lay it off as quickly as possible 5 yards sideways or back to a defender. Conductor my arse.

I dunno, im just a layman but Gibbs White seems a bit peripheral now the shape's changed. Johnson's more involved though and he seems the only option for an out ball. We just need some composure in the middle. Im in the 'what does RF do?' camp.

Yates will provide a massive improvement all round.

Agreed. I get every team needs a player to break up play so you need a Colback or Freuler. But not both at home to Everton.
Yates really changed it up.

I was fully expecting Yates to be in the team sheet.. Had he been on from the start i do think the game might have been a little bit different.

He starts now for me.

I stand by my original question.

Does anyone else want to start another thread “What does Chris Wood actually do?”

I was thinking about this thread during that first half. His main contribution seemed to be headers forward to noone. He did not have a good game.

Colback was way better than him today.

I'm not a huge Freuler fan but they all do that.
I'd love the see the stat, if it exists, for how many times our blind defensive headers actually go to one of our own players. My guess would be in single figures percentage, even when the defender is under no real pressure they just blindly throw their head at it & give possession straight back to the opposition.

Because it's one of the things that annoys me I tend to watch for it during games & I've noticed that when other teams head out from defence they mostly tend to direct the ball towards one of their own players, but not us.

Seeing as I started this thread…..I thought he played very well today. We totally controlled the game.

He made loads of interceptions and was good at starting the break. My brother said before kick off how much better does it suit him having the youthful energy of Danilo and Mangala alongside him.

Mangala had a really good game too, loved it when he tried to tackle with his head to defend. I wonder if that Belgium performance has unlocked him.

Well he has just scored for Switzerland, his 7th in 56 caps which isn’t bad. From the brief clip he seemed to be well advanced and miles clear of his teammates which would suggest as has been said he plays in a different position for his country.

Now then if only we could play Andorra every week in the PL we would be golden.

Maybe if the club sign an Adams or Maia, Freuler will start to play further up the pitch.
