Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager
No I am not saying that I am just stating a fact.

I would get Rafa in on 10 game contract........ massive staying up bonus and contract for next season, else 10 game contract over if we go down.

No idea what you are on about Sniffer.

Hughton did well at Brighton, that’s a fact. He failed here thats a fact. Why does that mean Brighton’s model is in some way a failure?

Its irrelevant anyway as is said above there is little point comparing us to other clubs, EM is his own man and its his club.

Completely agree.

And I think Cooper did a seriously good job last year....but, similar to Potter at Brighton, sometimes things just line up for people. Last year, he got our squad playing together really well - we knew we were pushing it and we had this fantastic mentality that scraped us a lot of wins. However, maybe the squad was perfect for Coops, perhaps the lack of his own signings was actually a blessing and he is crap in the transfer market, maybe the loan players were just that much better than the majority of the Championship?!?! And no, I'm not slagging him off, he was a massive part of it, as well as galvanising the support so he fully deserves a lot of praise.

My main point is, if he does move on today/tomorrow, can we not lambast the owners! I think they're in a really tricky situation and I think I would make the decision to part ways myself. I'd even say to Coops...go and learn more, work out how to be better and hopefully we can work again in the future as I do think he has a very bright future in the game and clearly a decent bloke. He was shown a huge amount of loyalty when he got a new contract when under pressure in the Autumn.....please don't forget that either! He owes the owners and club for that!

So Cooper takes all the blame and the owners/players get off free? How is that fair at all? He owes them nothing, he took the club up and barely had a team at that point. Not sacking him was a good move but 100% the right move, sacking would've been ridiculous. Repeatedly sacking managers gets you nowhere unless you have a much bigger budget than every other team around you which we don't. Sacking good managers is even more stupid. If Cooper is gone today then who else is left to blame...

Where is the blame? I repeatedly wrote I think he's done really well, deserves a lot of praise and has a very bright future. But it's clearly not working right now and that is the biggest issue, which will affect us now, mid term and long term. A new manager would indeed have an extremely difficult job to make any difference, but it's better to be proactive in my opinion but I do also understand the opposite point of view.

He does owe the owners. They stuck with him when the vast majority would have parted ways and actually got very richly rewarded with a long term contract that will likely see him receive a huge amount of money if we do part ways.

I do think players should hold more responsibility but unfortunately we have a set squad that can't be changed outside of transfer windows. And as has been said by a few, Coops was very much involved in bringing a lot of them in.

Blimey, you're very polar!!!

Scattergun approach will see us as Stoke for the next 10 years

No plan just splash cash and hope

Steve is a modern coach and will go on to great things, Forest are not very well run. I want new owners with deep pockets and an actual plan

Brighton = Employing Hughton for 5 years.

Brentford = Shutting down their academy.

Just imagine the meltdown on here if we did any of those two things.

Not quite. Brighton have and academy and promote youth. Brentford buy it in and sell it on.

Maybe because Brighton has more money. Benham used to work for Bloom and they have turned gambling data and applied it to football.

I'd happily of had Hughton for 5 years if it went as well as it did for them.

Brentford do have an academy again now, but also they invested all their money in the B team instead as they could give them pro contracts. They ditched the academy as the best youngsters moved to the other bigger London clubs before that point. A little different here as we have a decent catchment area and only a few similar sized teams to choose from. Plus we have such a good reputation it makes ours have much more value.

If we end up in the Prem long term it will be interesting to see if we can maintain that pathway from the academy.

The Gerrard to Olympiakos rumours do seem to have cropped up at an interesting time… wonder if they’ve got their wires crossed? Hope not!

Names for Oly or names for us? I could see a change being made in the summer regardless of which division we are in.
