Sometimes it's the players decision Sniff........"I'll see if I can run it off" sort of thing.
Bloody difficult to run off a pulled hamstring Tricks :fishing:
I can't believe that we learnt nothing from keeping Niakhate on against West Ham earlier in the season. At Villa we did it again twice with both Kouyate and Niakhate.
Niakhate seems to be a bit irresponsible with regard to injury. Any other pro is off the field the moment they feel a twinge.

That could be true Pap but our staff would have noticed it too and they failed to react. Plus what is the excuse for pushing Kouyate back on again when every man and his dog could see that he was f****d.

Desperation springs to mind Sniff. Very irresponsible though.

Surely it would be the responsibility of Abrantes as senior Medic and Kaplanis as head physio to assess the player on the pitch at tell Cooper they are f***ed and if they play on they will make the injury worse.
You seem determined to blame Cooper. I’m saying we employ people to do this specific job.
A decent physio should be able to tell how a player is moving if they are injured and how badly.

I am not determined to blame anyone SM I am just frustrated that it is allowed to happen.
Having said that Cooper is the boss over all of his staff.

I agree with what you say Sal. But the buck stops with SC at the end of the day. IF Abrantes and Kaplanis didnt tell Cooper a player is f****d, surely Cooper can see it though and has to make the final decision.
I'm not knocking Cooper and I am most definitely not in the Cooper out brigade, but at the end of the day, the final decision rests on his shoulders.

I don’t know Tricky. I am possibly being unfair but the sheer number of injuries and the in game management of injuries I am saying the medics and physios are not doing their jobs properly or that they are simply poor at their jobs.
The ridiculous McKenna and Boly double hamstring pull on 5 minutes? Surely that is down to those players not being warmed up properly or a pre existing condition that wasnt spotted. That is on Abrantes and Kaplanis.

You aren't being unfair Sal, you are expressing your opinion, which I agree with more or less. I cannot argue at all with you about the warm ups either. I have often wondered if the players are being a bit half arsed when they are doing their warm ups TBH. That is down to the coaches not pulling slackers up for it. Coaches need to encourage, motivate and get the players ready for 100 minutes of competitive football.
BUT! At the end of the day, whether the coaches, physios or anybody else is either telling Cooper or not, it is down to him to make the call, especially when a player pulls up for no reason. To me that is common sense that something is wrong and something needs doing about it. At the end of the day, SC, as does the club, has a duty of care for his players.
For me, i am more concerned about the training and coaching staff rather than Cooper or the medical team. Are they up to the job?

So what do the physios and coaches do when the player says he was mistaken and he's ok to carry on. Its the player's responsibility to know what to do if there's a potential muscle injury. Niakhate has previous. He damged his hamstring badly after his first pull v west ham by carrying on. He was seen stamping his foot on the ground trying to shake it off. Then he apparently "didn't follow appropriate injury protocol" in his recovery, and now the injury has reoccured and yet again he played on, this time through the last sub window meaning we finish the game with 10 men. Astonishing.

Slightly unrelated but the talk of blaming Cooper for rushing players back too soon doesn't quite work when the same people are shouting at him for not starting Awoniyi (or Dennis who was also injured)
