I heard again at the ground yesterday that the stadium development will not be starting at the end of the season which is a massive shame.

Any idea why?

My guess is that the condition on the planning permission relating to the boat club being relocated before work can start cannot be completed before the end of the season. To do so, a new site for the club would need to be found, a building designed, which they'd have to approve, and planning permission needs to be gained for it. You dont do all of that in a couple of months.

In the draft 106 agreement there is a bit saying we could provide them with a temporary structure/building

Why would the boat club have to be relocated before we can START.

Of course it won't be there when we finish but that is another matter.

Needs demolishing as it’s on the footprint of the build.
There has been some progress and can’t see that as the only reason we won’t start in May/ June…
Costs have almost doubled!

There were discussions for them to relocate temporarily to the ON's sports ground on Adbolton Lane, next to the sailing club. Nothing seems to have come of that so far.

David Ornstein saying work on the Peter Taylor stand will not start after this season:

At the same time, the club have been weighing up the pros and cons of the best time to knock down their Peter Taylor Stand and put up a replacement that would increase the 30,000 capacity to 35,000 and bring the stadium more in line with demand.

Planning permission was granted last July but the downside is that the building work would mean Forest operating, in effect, with only three stands until everything was completed.

That work was initially due to start this summer but may now be put back until 2024 owing to the complexities of the planning permission and various other considerations. In the meantime, Forest have recently renovated the dressing rooms, which are situated in the relevant stand, and also the adjoining tunnel area.

I’d warrant they will wait until the team are more established and can get results away from home before taking the plunge.

I would have thought if we got relegated that would be a perfect time to start it. If it isn't, when is? It's going to cause disruption when ever they do it.

I thought the issue was the massive recent increase in cost, perhaps they are just waiting until these come back down a bit at some unknown point in the future.

Wassy I am in construction industry and believe me increased costs that came into play on the back of Covid and the Ukraine war will NOT come down, they may stabilise. I would hazard a guess that the cost of the new stand has increased in excess of 20% in the last 2 years!

Thanks must go to certain members of the council for their role in the delay of this project (and the postponed economic benefit to the area) at the next local elections.
