Some fans say there is no man bigger than the club when it came to the likes of sacking oneill and hughton because they were big names, now it's there is no man bigger than the club unless it's Steve cooper. Always said I want him to do well, still do, but I choose staying in the Premiership no matter what it takes, coops might keep us up and go to a better club for it.. we might go down and coops might think, screw this I'm off.. I'm a premiership manager, it's football, got to take it how it comes, not how we want it

Think thats the life of a PL manager Wassy. The knives were out for Arteta this time last year, plenty scousers who think Klopp has lost it.

However yes there were quite a few on here who wanted Cooper gone, Im sure some never changed their opinion which is fine. Personally I dont believe another manager would do better with this squad. Cooper may make some decisions which we dont like but all managers have their quirks and do the same.

I agree. In terms of quality of squad we started the summer a long way behind every other team in the premier league, even Fulham and Bournmouth. The owner and manager have done as much as they could have to make the difference up, but in truth it was probably too big a task in the first place. We have improved and there is some hope but in my opinion those chances are unlikely to be improved by changing the manager. We know Cooper is good and also improving as a manager. We need to stick with him.

I really really hope Mr Marinakis just stays patient with Steve.

He has had an incredibly tough job since promotion was achieved, and I truly believe we have a potentially really top class coach.

The sky is the limit if we just remain patient as there are always going to be bumps this season

Interesting that the people who were dead against Cooper being fired when he was under the cosh earlier this season are now having a pop at him for signing so called pensioners.

I wonder how Cooper himself would feel if the powers above blocked his signings and said no to his wishes to the player's he wants to add to his squad.

If any if so called pensioners help keep us up over next 5 months then they get my vote. I prefer the term experienced.

People can say what they like about Steve Cook  but I am not sure we would have got over the line last season without him. He is still just 31 too and can do the job if called upon.

We have a nucleus of players still not at their peak as footballers. Henderson, Lodi   Niakhate  Richards  Worrall  Yates  Danilo  Jonno  Taiwo  Surridge  MGW.  Another group in the 28-30 bracket and a few 31 plus experienced heads. 

A good balance I'd say.  I didn't check all ages so may have missed a few. McKenna?

I accept we are currently at the stage where we need the right now crew and not the in 3 years crew to get us over the line. If a 2 year contract is required for a experienced player to get us to stay up then so be it. Needs must and we need to stay in the premier league, that alone is worth an extra years parachute payment if the worst was to happen (3 years instead of two if we go down in the first year of coming up).
