My choice would be Gareth stays on until the next Euros but we have Howe or Potter in place to take over then. The odds of either of them still being in the same job in 2 years I would say are slim anyway.

If he decides to jump ship now then pretty certain England ends up with a foreigner, not ideal but its not cheating either as one journalist was implying today.

I didn't say it was your problem, I was pointing out there aren't many options.

It doesn't have to be English however I don't see them appointing a foreign manager unless it was a big name, I'm not sure there is anyone that fits the criteria for that that I can think of that would want it. Therefore it's more likely to be a young English manager in a similar vein to Southgate, all of the above would make sense as the kind of managers they would go for. 

I reckon it would be Gerrard as he's the only one out of work.

We can lose v Chelsea amd still recover but lose against Soton and we're back where we started excpet this time we're carrying injuries to important players.

what I find most deflating is the number of our players who are performing regularly at well below their capabilities. This is the acid test for coaches both individually and as a group. To see players like Mangala, Lodi, Awoniyi, Freuler, Lingard etc playing so far below their level is as baffling as it is painful. I don't think that Cooper and his team can expect this to be allowed to continue for much longer.

I don't think that Cooper and his team can expect this to be allowed to continue for much longer.

How do you know their 'level' though? I think for most of those the level they are playing at is the best they can do. Freuler perhaps could be better but not seen anything from the others to show they are capable of playing better than they have been. These players aren't good, it would be a bigger achievement than getting promoted if Cooper does keep us up.

Pap is correct, We would still have lost Ozzy.
However the manner of the defeat was disappointing, it really should have been a wider scoreline. No I don’t know why Awoniyi wasn’t told to play central and try to bully Shaw but Cooper will have had his reasons. If he had Would that have meant a different result? I very much doubt it.

However to go back to an old theme, should Cooper be getting more out of this squad? Not in my opinion, man for man our squad isnt as strong as almost every other team. None of our squad is good enough to get in the side Man U fielded last night. The proof will be in the upcoming games against bottom half sides.
