So where to next?
There needs to be a couple changes v Brighton.

1. Johnson needs a break - Dennis to the right hand side.
2. Awoniyi replaces Johnson
3. Aurier for Williams if fit
4. Keep the midfield three Yates, Frueler & Kouyate (I'm tempted to say Mangala for Kouyate but it's away at Brighton, so will stick)
5. Play 4-3-3 again.

Other than that, the rest start IMO.

Our best midfield player's are O'Brien, Frueler and Mangala, I'd play those three every game, keep Yates on the bench.

You would think if Wood signs it would lend itself to more of a 4231 formation rather than our 433 false 9.
But the central figure of the 3 would play more as a No8 rather than No10
Think Freuler, Scarpa or even MGW all suitable for that?

Yep he has changed my mind. Yates has improved in areas he wasn't so good without losing the qualities he already had. As it stands he is probably my player of the season!

I watched the game on a stream but positions weren't always clear. Was Wood playing centrally with MGW on the left? Or was it more similar to Taiwo being on the left. I thought it looked like Wood started left so I presume MGW was floating around?

I'm inclined to suggest we don't fix what's not broken but with Yates potentially out there's an opportunity to look at a Danilo/Freuler DM partnership and switch to a 4231 style with Scarpa or Linagrd instead of Mangala.

Will be interesting to see as Steve is obviously keen on Wood so you'd presume he has a plan how he wants to use him. I'm enjoying the options we right now. Squad is looking quite strong, not sure we're that desperate for another wide forward personally.

I think when Scarpa cam on yesterday we looked to have more balance and it looked as though we did go to a 4-2-3-1 . Danilo and Remo looked to be sitting and then MGW seemed to have more space in the pocket behind SS . Scarpa and MGW can also rotate during the games and i think Jesse could also do the same as Scarpa does fade in games so would like us to get another LW option . Wood has been brought in as the target man .

Not wishing to sound so condescending but do some people even watch the games?

OBrien was probably the best midfielder in Championship last season and looked OK at times early this season. But to claim he currently deserved to start games or is one of our best 3 midfielders at present is delusional at best. Currently he is rightly behind Mangala, Freuler, Yates,   Danilo, Colback and probably Scarpa (who is more a front 3 kind of guy). Kouyate too when fit.

That can obvious change in the future as OBrien has the tools to be a good Premier League player and I really like what he can bring. But he has to keep fighting to earn a chance at that spot and then prove he deserves to keep it. He will know that better than anyone.
