I did point out on the game thread we have conceded a lot of long range goals. Is there a suggestion Henderson is at fault, I'm not sure about that.

He has no chance with the first half goals last night really, possibly the 2nd I guess. 4th one yes he could've done better.

Of the recent goals I can remember (there's been a lot!), Bournemouth wonder goal he had no chance, that long range one vs Fulham, not sure he could've done much either. I think it's more giving too much space to shoot too often, also a little bit unlucky that these low % strikes have repeatedly gone in.

Dont think Henderson is poor but I dont think he is the Gods gift that some were making out early on either. You cant concede 16 goals in 4 games and say the goalkeeper is blameless.

Truth is there are a lot of players below the level they are capable of. We would be in a difficult enough situation if everyone was giving their best, right now we have no chance.

With no midfield, and a woeful defence even Shilton would struggle.

Seems to me that after playing the equivalent of 5-2-3 for seven games, and then 4-2-4 for one game, that we need more than two players in midfield.

Lingard has been at fault for 3 goals now giving the ball away poorley , he has also contributed nothing going forward so slow in everything he does .
A midfield 3 is a must as we are being over run every game .

For me I dont care if he doesn't play again for us this season. Complete waste of an awful lot of money.

I miss Joe's long diagonals over the full back for Johnson to run onto . Bring him back I say

With Spence bombing on wide which gave us another outlet we no longer have. It was the rapid transitional play that got us promoted, a quality we seem to have lost.

Tactics talk is fun, but means literally nothing if we keep making individual errors costing goals.
1st: All set up nicely to defend, Lingard then miss-kicks.
2nd: Zero pressure on Player as he picks his spot.
3rd: A formerly decent CM runs through treacle making foul 25 yards too late with inevitable Maddison result.

All over then, 4th goal was fairly well taken to be fair  with both CBs in decent position, though arguably a bit too close too each other and one of them could have been closer to the scorer.

Bournemouth and Fulham goals were mostly from bad errors too.

Cut out the errors and it at least gives us a punchers chance.

Agree with that Zico.
The bit that you have missed is that we scored 0 vs the team with the worst defensive record in the league.
The other point is if we keep capitulating in midfield and constantly putting pressure on the defence they will eventually make a mistake.

Wonder if anything was mentioned in the meeting today about players and some of coopers selections and some signings not making the bench etc

So where to next?
There needs to be a couple changes v Brighton.

1. Johnson needs a break - Dennis to the right hand side.
2. Awoniyi replaces Johnson
3. Aurier for Williams if fit
4. Keep the midfield three Yates, Frueler & Kouyate (I'm tempted to say Mangala for Kouyate but it's away at Brighton, so will stick)
5. Play 4-3-3 again.

Other than that, the rest start IMO.

Our best midfield player's are O'Brien, Frueler and Mangala, I'd play those three every game, keep Yates on the bench.
