We tried something different and we were promoted straight away. Was that the something different that worked or as Pap says did we just luck out with Cooper?
Again regarding recruitment I instinctively prefer the analytics approach simply because of the years of failure and millions wasted when we seemed to pull signings out of a hat. Problem is that Syrianos and co definitely didnt improve us. My hunch is that we just had the wrong people for the job but the idea overall was correct. Agree with those who say analytics dont show you everything by the way but it should part of it IMO.
Does all of that have anything to do with Murphy? No idea but he was part of the team that got us promoted. Even when he arrived he was clearly hinting Forest was just a stepping stone for him so best for all he leaves with our thanks.
Last season's success was down to the appointment and management of Cooper plus whoever suggested loaning Spence, Davies, Garner and Cook.

Dont quite agree it was that simple Wassy. I think the whole atmosphere about the club was different last year, top to bottom it seemed like everyone was on the same page. Was that Dane, Cooper, Marinakis or a bit of all?
Was it also because someone else (cough) was no longer around?

I think it's fair to say that everyone played a part in our success last year.
I have nothing against Dane and I wish him well for the future.
Some may not agree with my next comment but everything seem to click and fall into place the moment Milto walked through the door.

Got to agree. Very sorry to see Murphy driven out. His short tenure saw us rise like phoenix from the ashes. People want to argue now who was responsible for appointing Cooper and the rise that followed. What we do know is the current regime have been in charge since 2017 and until Murphy and then Cooper arrived it achieved diddly squat. For ours sake let’s hope Forest rise up the table was only coincidental to Murphy being the CO.

Winning makes everything better though doesn't it.
I would certainly suggest the Jan window was the first (and only?) window where it's really felt like the manager/recruitment team were firmly in line and that was crucial to our success. Cook and Davis were key pieces to our success and even Layrea could've been if we ever needed him!

Dane was not driven out.
He wanted to sign more player's that Cooper didn't agree with plus he wanted Cooper sacked after the leicester game.
Would you rather Dane have got his own way?
You were blaming Marinakis when rumours of Cooper being sacked came out but it was in fact Marinakis who saved Cooper and gave him a new contract.

Regardless of who wanted who out, Cooper's position was in a perilous state after the Leicester game. The side were getting worse rather than better and from my eyes, Cooper didnt have a clue. We were wide open and getting stuffed every week. It was right for his position to be questioned, at that time.

I disagree completely actually, was like 8 games into the season and we'd played Man City, Spurs, Newcastle in that run too. Cooper's job should never have been under threat so early and surely what has happened since then has proven that? It's pretty much exactly as you would've predicted, in that he eventually found a formation/lineup that was consistent and new players have begun to show improvement and that they are more settled.
How can you go from going up to sacking a guy 8 games later?! Crazy.
I said to someone the other day that the news that Cooper had signed a new deal felt as good as getting promoted when it came out.
You can be critical of his methods and odd selections (although Taiwo out side doesn't look so stupid now!) however that doesn't mean the need to get rid of him.
According to some sources it appears Dane was in your camp!
