Who said he was in the states?
I said he was trying to find Dennis and Hwang clubs in MLS and he was but I repeat who said he was in the states?
I'll wait...
Why does someone always feel the need to have a pop?
I was right all along about Dane being on borrowed time despite getting dogs abuse for saying it and still some continue with the cheap shots.
So can you put a link up where I said that Dane was in the states to back up what you are implying.

Sorry to see Dane Murphy leave #NFFC. Played a big part in club’s modern success, helped put together promotion team and was key to bringing in Steve Cooper.
Sadly, his position has been untenable for some time. If anything, probably a surprise it didn’t happen earlier
Dane appointed and championed Steve Cooper. His relationship with club fell apart because a) he hired solicitors after club (allegedly) didn’t pay him promotion bonuses b) club official briefed stories to newspapers that he was in danger of losing job. Untenable after that, sadly
Not if you understand how payoffs work and how statements are put together as part of that process. It was all written about extensively some time ago that his position was untenable because of this.
Dourekas was key to bringing in Cooper not Dane but apart from that DT is correct in that his position had become untenable for some time.
It was most definitely Danes call. The negotiations may have been completed by others (very important too of course) but I'd go so far as to say No Dane at the club would have = No Cooper at that point.
He has made mistakes as previously discussed but Cooper was his man (for 1st 6 months anyway?)

With respect Zico I have to disagree with you on that but it doesn't really matter anyway.
He's gone now.

So Cooper's power grab at the city ground is now complete. Not a bad thing if he knows what he's doing, which so far appears to be the case. We didnt do so badly under cloughie's dictatorship afterall.
I never bought into the Dane Murphy thing anyway. I always had a suspicion that he got lucky at Barnsley by selecting an unknown manager who miraculously came good. He certainly chose the right bloke for us too, so fair enough , but does just two good decisions like that make you some kind of genius ceo? I dunno. I also never bought into his analytical approach to transfers either. It all felt a bit too removed from reality for me. Our best signings this season have been Boly, Freuler, Kouyate, Henderson etc. None of them plucked from the unknown at a young age are they?
Wish him all the best though. I hope he has success in his career.

Feels generous to class Boly as a success given he only broke into the team a few games ago! (just to be pedantic) Also, you missed off the clear signing of the season in Aurier.

That's the key to all that's followed at the club since though I'd say. Cooper is the man that's taken us here (backed by EMs cash).

Boly has been a sucess so far. Looks like the best cb we've got at the clun at this moment in time. Forgive me for forgetting Aurier. Behind Yates he's easily poty so far. Total class act. How could I forget him?

He appears to be heading towards being a success but in his first game he was at fault for 2/3 goals and was taken off early and then didn't play for about 10 games! Not sure I would call that a huge success, I think he's earned his way back from failure to jury's still out at least! Anyway, apologies this is unnecessarily off topic.

Lets try to stay on track chaps - Dane.
I agree with Pap, I never understood the lauding of Dane. Lets not kid ourselves Marinakis and the Greeks call the shots and make all the major decisions at the football club.

As debuts go, it was on a par with Bongs or Michael Stewarts. Says alot about Bolys character that he's come back from that. I agree it's too early to judge. He struggled at ManU for instance, but was good against Chelsea (heel flick aside) and Southampton.

I wasn’t necessarily lauding Dane, more that he seemed to take a different approach to the scattergun recruiting, sacking of managers merry go round that we were stuck in for over 20 years.
We tried something different and we were promoted straight away. Was that the something different that worked or as Pap says did we just luck out with Cooper?
Again regarding recruitment I instinctively prefer the analytics approach simply because of the years of failure and millions wasted when we seemed to pull signings out of a hat. Problem is that Syrianos and co definitely didnt improve us. My hunch is that we just had the wrong people for the job but the idea overall was correct. Agree with those who say analytics dont show you everything by the way but it should part of it IMO.
Does all of that have anything to do with Murphy? No idea but he was part of the team that got us promoted. Even when he arrived he was clearly hinting Forest was just a stepping stone for him so best for all he leaves with our thanks.
